The Detroit Tigers have signed Mike Maroth and Brandon Inge. Maroth got a two year deal, and Inge re-upped for one season. I don’t have the terms of either deal, but if various reports are accurate Maroth will get $5.25 million total with $2.3 million in the first year, and $2.95 million in 2007. Assuming … Continue reading Tigers sign Maroth and Inge→
So do you believe in Brandon Inge yet? I have to admit that I was highly skeptical that he could pick up where he left off last year. I didn’t expect him to slide all the way back to his .200 batting average ways, but I certainly didn’t expect the 375/453/607 line he’s posted to … Continue reading B. Inge-ing→
Gene Guidi writes in the Free Press that the Tigers might try to swing a trade with the Angels for one of their starters, Aaron Sele, Ramon Ortiz, or Jarrod Washburn. As for who the Tigers would be offering up: Craig Monroe or Brandon Inge. I’d imagine the deal would also involve one of the … Continue reading Washburn for Inge?→
The news of Magglio Ordonez’s prolonged absence is certainly devastating on a number of fronts and only compounded by the loss of Carlos Guillen. Already without Brandon Inge for at least a month the Tigers lost a third of their starting lineup in the last week. It changes the outlook for the trade deadline, and may very well change the look of the 2011 team. It also likely puts a significant dent in Miguel Cabrera’s chances for a triple crown.
Rick Porcello will take on Kevin Slowey as the Tigers try and stave off a sweep in Minnesota. Brandon Inge gets the day off with Don Kelly playing third base. The Tigers uniforms will have the Ernie Harwell patches today.
The Tigers are fortunate to not have any positions really up in the air when they head to spring training. At least not for the starters. The bench on the other hand has a number of candidates competing for limited spots. Marcus Thames, Brandon Inge, Ryan Raburn, Freddy Guzman, Mike Hessman, and Ramon Santiago are all gunning for what amounts to 3 bench positions. How will it shake out?
To say that there were problems with runners in scoring position last night would be an understatement, but the good news is: lots of runners in scoring position. You couldn’t ask for much more than to twice have Miguel Cabrera step in with the bases loaded and less than two outs, and couldn’t have been … Continue reading Game 2016.13: Tigers at Royals→
Well all good streaks must come to an end, although this apparently does not apply to the Kansas City Royals, which means the 6 – 1 Tigers are now in 2nd place. Last night was a rough one for Mr. Castellanos, which is Spanish for “goat.” Last night there was one of those pivotal game … Continue reading Game 2015.8: Tigers at Pirates→
ALCS: Detroit 1, Boston 1. ALCS Game 2: Boston 6, Detroit 5. Painful. The loss Sunday night is one game I will not review in its entirety. During the regular season, there was at least one (Toronto 8, Detroit 6) and probably a couple other games I forget where a sizable lead vanished and left … Continue reading Game 2013. Well, here we are facing elimination, which is never a pleasant thing. The series so far has been a bit dispiriting, which is why I am muttering to myself and throwing the F-bomb around to keep myself pumped up while I type this. And what the $%*! are you looking at? This isn’t supposed to … Continue reading Game 2013. Playoffs 4: A’s at Tigers→
66-45, 1st place, 5 games up on the Tribe. Well, that was nice. Justin Verlander started out looking a bit uh-oh, but put together the strongest 8 innings we’ve seen from him since… when? Velocity, command, breaking ball working – what more can you ask? Justin Masterson actually pitched as well or better than Verlander … Continue reading Game 2013.112: Tigers at Indians→
56-45, 1st place, 3 games up on Cleveland. Well, it was almost euphoria. Maybe you have to live in the Chicago area to relate, but sweeping the White Sox 4 straight in Chicago would have been the equivalent of a World Series championship to me (no matter how the White Sox – or the Tigers … Continue reading Game 2013.102: Phillies at Tigers→
