Game 2017.97: Tigers at Twins

Miguel Cabrera and his clavicle are right back in the lineup.

The anti-Adduci conspiracy continues. Actually these outfield guys did well last night. J-Up and The Toledo Boys were the whole offense.

Today’s Lineup:

  1. Ian Kinsler, 2B
  2. Nick Castellanos, 3B
  3. Justin Upton, LF
  4. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  5. Mikie Mahtook, CF
  6. Victor Martinez, DH
  7. James McCann, C
  8. Alex Presley, RF
  9. Jose Iglesias, SS

  1. If Boyd doesn’t start throwing more strikes early in the count, he will leave early today.

  2. One of managements big responsibilities is to try to do what’s best foe the organization no matter the criticism. It begs the question: Why is Miggy playing? He is almost a wheelchair candidate right now.

  3. Has to be oe of Boyd’s best start in the majors. Please get him a run so he has a shot at a win. I suspect they won’t let him pitch the 7th because he’s almost at a 100.

  4. Greene.. Amazing getting out of that despite the clown show by Kinsler, who does nothing lately, for the Tigers….

  5. Iggy again… Great a bat.. Following the.. amazing third out by Greene striking out Castro… Even Kinsler makes up for his major screw up.. We will take it

  6. Rondon’s on schedule. 2 0r 3 decent outings then a 3 run flop. Check his appearances.

  7. Yesterday Rondon.. Slider.. Off speed.. Slider.. Fastball. Slider…. Today… FB.. FB.. Slider.. FB.. FB… FB…… Hit hit hit.. AVILA CALLED PITCHES yesterday.. McCann today.. Hmmmmm….

  8. I want to be fair to Bruce, that was his 4th appearance in 5 games. A bit too much.

  9. My personal message to Marian Ilitch: Marian, go slap Chris on the back of his head and have him order Avila to DL Miggy and have him properly diagnosed and healed. You would not have allowed this to happen to Stevie Y back when I was wearing my Aubrey jersey at the Joe.

  10. McCann 7 hits on the road trip. Good to see him helping out…….

Tony, someone would have to order Miggy out. BRAD certainly doesn’t have the balls to sit him for his own good!

  11. Looks like Jim Aducci has a job as designated runner for the designated hitter.

  12. How bout.. Pressly.. And Upton..Iggy..and Mikie For awhile now..who’d a thunk it!!!!

  13. Casty, Miggy and Victor 1 for 15 today, plus a walk. Our bottom feeders bailed them out.

  14. Greene.. PLAYER OF THE Game…. Presley.. IGGY.. McCann close..

Let’s ride this momentum! Finally a win on Getaway day!

  15. Dawel Lugo…our best piece of the JD trade homered twice in Erie last night. One thing I know….”He’s going to hit.” signed Brad Asmus…
Hey… I like that Presley guy… Seriously the eval on him, Aducci,
Mahtook were pretty astute or lucky… These guys have been fun to watch.
Better than the millionaires who can’t hit a pig in a ditch…

    1. I agree. I read some things about Mahtook when they got him…he was one of those super high potential guys that never got it going after college. Alex Presley, like Mahtook, is also from Louisiana, and has bounced around 5 teams. Adduci ended up playing in Korea, and got banned for being on Oxycodone for pain. You couldn’t get three more scrapheap guys than this. Either the Tigers have been freakishly lucky, or someone is doing some good evaluation and scouting.

  16. Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw was placed on DL because of back tightness. Left the game in the 2nd inning. Glad to see they didn’t mess around and did it immediately. Unlike the Tigers who continue to gamble with Miggy’s various physical (and admittedly possible personal/mental) problems. Long range prediction: If Miggy’s career is cut short, look for blockbuster lawsuit on his behalf.

  17. One writer reports that the Tigers are actively shopping JV. He predicts he’ll be gone by next Monday. Not sure I believe it since the Tigers will have to eat part of his contract. If it happens, I can only hope that he goes to a club that gets him into the World Series and gives him perhaps his last chance for the ring. I wish him nothing but the best. He has been great but his chance for a ring here are rather slim. I also hope we get some reasonable return that will help the Tigers in the future.

    1. I’m biased against trading JV to begin with, but I also have a hard time seeing all this lining up:

      Contender
Strong need for ace-caliber pitcher (the real contenders already have one)
Team that JV would approve a trade TO
Willing to pay the HIGH price Detroit should and will be asking
