Game 2016.73: Mariners at Tigers

Daniel Norris has motored his van to town and joins the starting rotation, backed by a lineup Brad might have made out after a long night of celebrating the Tigers 3rd win. Not sure how Aviles got left out of this one.

Fulmer started out well last night, then just sort of lost it. After the game he mentioned feeling lightheaded and short of breath, which has been a common reaction here when the bullpen enters a game, but the Tiger bullpen was stellar last night, and Moya pounded the ball. That’s how you put together a winning streak, when different parts of the team take turns contributing.

Next up are the pesky Indians.

Today’s We Already Won the First Three So What the Heck Lineup:

  1. Kinsler, 2B
  2. Iglesias, SS
  3. Cabrera, DH
  4. Castellanos, 3B
  5. Upton, LF
  6. Moya, RF
  7. McCann, C
  8. Saltalamacchia, 1B
  9. Romine, CF

The suddenly-hitting Iglesias, takes the 2nd spot (he has hit .299 over the last 30 days), Victor and Maybin get a rest, Miggy gets a semi-rest, although he never seems the same guy at DH (.268 lifetime), 1B will be a little salty, and the Lettuce will be Romine the expanses of center field.

Coleman, cute intro. I wish they could have forced Miggy to take the day off. While a sweep of Seattle would be nice, what is going to matter most is how we play against the Indians. If they sweep us again, it will be a disaster. We need to win the next series.

I think they are seeing this one as a Let’s See How Norris Pitches game, and if he pitches well, I think they can live without the sweep.

Things are very slowly fallining into place…Of course when you are rock bottom only in front of the Twinks I guess theres only UP in front of you. ….But one piece at a time is actually working…Moya..Mabin..Greene..Ryan..Rondon…maybe Norris ..Upton hitting………all falling into place….lets keep going. I agree with Tony the Indian series is huge just because!!!!

I just realized what got Ryan thu that 10 th inning!….Lowe was warming up in the pen….if that isn’t incentive enough what is. I could have pitched that 10 seeing Lowe heating up!

DET signs their 1st round 18-yr old #1 pick Manning…looks like he’s a couple years away from the MLB, but like the fact that he’s: 1) and athlete…also had a basketball scholarship, 2) he just started pitching his junior year in HS, so not a lot of mileage on his arm/shoulder, and 3) he throws 96-97 mph, so could improve w/proper coaching and development

Fielder is batting .205, w/a .315 SLG%… and TEX is on the hook for $24M per year thru 2020 – though DET is kicking in $6M per year (of $24M)… that’s $6M well spent by DET. Getting Kinsler and unloading Fielder’s contract ranks up there w/trading for Cabrera or Scherzer as DD’s top trades.

DET pitching better be sharp because CLE pitching has been very good
