17.05.2009 14 comments

A big chunk of the Tigers payroll was making some noise today for a variety of reasons. Let’s recap it: Jeremy Bonderman Jeremy Bonderman made his first rehab start for the West Michigan Whitecaps tonight. Game 2009.035: A’s at Tigers

16.05.2009 27 comments

PREGAME: Hopefully the Tigers didn’t use up all their offense last night and they have some runs left to pile on Dallas Braden. I covered Braden yesterday, so borrowing from earlier writings: Lefty Dallas Braden takes the hill for Oakland. He has a sub 6 K/9 rate, but he walks less than half of that [...]

The one where I admit my wrongness: Edwin Jackson edition

16.05.2009 21 comments

Back in December 2008 the Tigers completed a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays that sent Matt Joyce to the Rays for Edwin Jackson. I wasn’t a fan of the trade, and those who read the post titled “Tigers set to send talented outfielder to Tampa for guy who throws hard” may have picked up on my displeasure. This is where I say I’m wrong.

Game 2009.034: A’s at Tigers

15.05.2009 74 comments

PREGAME: The Tigers journey through the AL Central with 6 wins, 6 losses, and a rain out. So they didn’t really lose or gain anything. Now they go out of the division for a while starting with the Oakland A’s. Kurt and Blake have already written up previews of this series, so I’ll just put [...]

Dontrelle Willis Pitch Location

Dontrelle’s Debut

15.05.2009 4 comments

I don’t know if I’d call Dontrelle’s outing good, but I would call it progress. He can now throw the ball over the plate. He knows it. The coaching staff knows it. The fans know it. Now it is a matter of whether or not he can be an effective big league pitcher.

Game 2009.033: Tigers at Twins

14.05.2009 175 comments

It’s not too hard to find someone to blame in this one. Bobby Seay and Zach Miner combined to be awful and give away a 5 run lead before recording 2 outs. The result was a wasted outing by Justin Verlander, and 5 runs which haven’t exactly been easy to come by lately.

Game 2009.032: Tigers at Twins

13.05.2009 191 comments

PREGAME: It is merely coincidence that Dontrelle’s first takes place alongside the Lost Season Finale right? It isn’t a harbinger of things to come right? Headline writers won’t be able to point to some combination of Lost Season or Finale to describe this game right? Well, here’s hoping that Dontrelle Willis maybe visited the island [...]
