Game 2014.7: Tigers at Dodgers

4-2, 1st place, .5 games up. Magic number is 155 (I think).

I managed to catch the Crawford double right as I went to bed last night. Needless to say I didn’t sleep well.

Sanchez v. TBD tonight. Someone please post the lineups. I’m traveling, so the post-game may be a little late.

Interesting stat of the day: A Sanchez W today would be the first of the season for any of Verlander, Scherzer, or Sanchez.

      1. “Dead arm”, what a joke! The athletes of today are a bunch of over-paid prima-donnas!

        1. Coke’s arm is not merely dead, but exhumed. In fact, he may suffer from zombie arm (The Throwing Dead). The undead arm can only continue its animate existence through allowing hits to like-handed batters.

Closer by committee for at least a while.

  1. Coke can’t possibly have a dead arm after all he only has to throw abiut 6 pitches for the game to be over…

I am more worried abiut Miggys dead bat!

  2. Tonight’s line-up. In my eyes, this is the best line-up I have seen from Smokey Jr. lately.

    1. Davis, LF
    2. Kinsler, 2B
    3. Miggy, 1B
    4. VMart, C
    5. AJax, CF
    6. Casty, 3B
    7. Collins, RF
    8. Gonzo, SS
    9. Sanchez, P

Let’s kick some Dodger ass! GO TIGERS GO!!!

    1. There’s something missing from that lineup, something low on the inner half that I just can’t seem to swing through.

  3. Shouldn’t the title of the post be “Game 2014.7”?

The titles of yesterday’s posts referred to Game 5. Maybe they thought they were supposed to repeat Sunday’s game, and were doing their best to reproduce the same result.

    1. How dare you! If we say it’s Game 6, then it is Game 6. Silence! We are DTW the Great and Terrible. Pay no attention to that…

  4. How can you have a system of Major league and minor league players and not even one of your catchers can throw out any baserunnes…hey DD got a frickin answer?????

    1. That’s what I’m hoping for. Actually, I was hoping for a 7-inning save from Smyly way back in the 2nd.

  5. Tiger closers are more door openers than anything else. Coke and Nathan have restored the Valverde and Benoit tandem. Who would have ever thought that was possible. Our starters may never win with our blowpen.

  6. I have a dead arm
Mumbles jr..ya but can you pitch?
    Nathan…I have a dead arm!
    Mumbles jr…well pitch anyway

3 runs later Mumbles jr turns to Lamont and states “I guess he has a dead arm…duh!!!

  7. It just shouldn’ t be this hard to win a frickin baseball game….

    …thanks Victor..Krol..Nick and Joba!!!

  8. file this one under another MLB pitching stat injustice; Nathan actually gets the “W” for his last night’s train wreck…somewhere Valverde is smiling…and eating

    1. Yeah, I was wondering what they were talking about with “save” in the 10th before the injustice occurred to me. Still, you might say that a save is more of a feather in a reliever’s cap than a win, as far as perception goes.
