Game 2011.21: White Sox at Tigers

OK, let’s try this again.  This afternoon the Tigers have a second chance at attaining that elusive first winning record.  They will be working against an old friend, Edwin Jackson.  The Tigers counter with the to-this-point underwhelming Brad “Bad” Penny.

I seem to remember Mr. Jackson had quite a proclivity for the high pitch count; perhaps his teammates remember also and we can get to the Chicago bullpen early today.

Today’s Player of the Pre-Game:  Brennan Boesch

Boesch continues to bash; sandwiched between the always dangerous Cabrera and the suddenly hot Raburn, the Boesch Bash will be the key to putting runs on the board.

Today’s Raburn-homers-then-dropped-in-the-order lineup:

  1. Austin Jackson CF
  2. Will Rhymes 2B
  3. Magglio Ordonez DH
  4. Miguel Cabrera 1B
  5. Brennan Boesch RF
  6. Ryan Raburn LF
  7. Jhonny Peralta SS
  8. Alex Avila C
  9. Brandon Inge 3B

  1. Raburn down in the order. The good news is that Peralta is also down, while Boesch is up. The bad news is that Jackson is still leading off and Rhymes is batting second. On the other hand, I guess there is only so much bottom-of-the-order at a time. At least Rhymes worked a walk.

  2. Penny seems to be breathing through his eyes. I wonder if he’s wearing a garter belt also.

    1. See, that’s the disadvantage of following the game on the radio. Or is that advantage?

  3. i’m blacked out here in LA as Fox is local broadcasting. What station you guys on the radio???. I tried 97.1..no go…..I don’t even have this game on XM radio…..dang

        1. ya I have the Direct TV extra innings so I have watched every gamer except the last two saturdays…but I forgot that I would be blacked out on saturdays alot….

  4. 178 XM got it thanks Kevin….my display should only that future game logo until I tuned it in and there is the game….

  5. two colemans in a week is unusuall…two in a game is great…..two in an inning just doesn’t happen,,,WOW WOW

  6. how about Avila from the first week of the season to where he is now…..pretty amazing….!!!!

  7. Remember how bummed many of us were that the Tigers didn’t sign Dunn? Not so much at the moment…

  8. Well, I said Brad Penny was underwhelming up to this point, but he is really beginning to whelm

  9. I switched over to listen the Sox broadcast for a little bit, These guys are unbelievable, they make it sound like they have it all together as a team. Hawk is not there. Does anyone know what happened to him, I loved listening to him when the Sox loose.

I would love to be listening to Hawk Sunday when we sweep them on Easter.

  10. Wow Ozzie letting Edwin twist in the wind out there, is he trying to make some point?

  11. I just came back from watching the Mavs game, why in the heck is EJ just now getting pulled?

    1. Maybe Ozzie just gave up on this one and is letting Jackson take one for the team to save on the bullpen. He clearly didn’t have it that inning, but the Sox offense has been MIA as well.

  12. If Penny can pitch like this once every few starts, and Coke can do the same, we’ll have a bit of a nice pitching staff here.

And it gives me a warm feeling to have a good bullpen.  Having a Benoit to come in for the 8th inning is a nice luxury.  To put things in perspective, Tampa replaced Benoit with…Farnsworth…

        1. I like that nickname, I just hope he can hang around long enough for it to stick.
