Roster/Rehab Notes

Chris Lambert was DFA’d to make room for Jacob Turner’s contract. Lambert was at least solid for AAA despite his struggles. I’m a little surprised it wasn’t Mike Hollimon who has battled injuries and is too old to really be considered a prospect at this point.

In the same article it is noted that Dontrelle Willis was scratched from a rehab start due to a sore hip and his rehab is now on hold.

  1. I think because Lambert pitched so badly last week that they had to figure noone would pick him up. Also, they will still need another roster spot to add Sizemore to bring up in two weeks when rosters expand. This will more than likely be Holliman’s 40 man spot.

  2. They have to be reluctant to let Holliman go because, really, if Inge were to really aggravate his knees on a slow roller to third, who else could play the bag daily? Larish? Guillen? Not Raburn, surely.

With Huff arriving, they could play him there, but until they work him out a third (a position he hasn’t played in a while) I imagine they’re holding onto Holliman “just in case.”

  3. First off Holliman is hurt and likely won’t play the rest of the season let alone play in the big leagues.if Inge goes down don’t be surprised if they bring up Sizemore to play 3rd.

      1. joe knows a lot, except maybe how to finish a thought…

unless he really knows how to leave us hanging, waiting for the rest of his post…

    1. Thanks — didn’t know that. If he is hurt that badly, why’s he still on the 40-man?

    2. Don Kelly is another option at third. But it would surprise me to see Polanco at third and Sizemore at second in a pinch either.
