Game 2015.84: Tigers at Mariners

Another game another day closer to .500.

Jason Beck had some interesting thoughts on Ausmus’ late inning decisions last night. He’s not quite calling them into question, but the fact that he’s writing about it…

Ryan down, Farmer up. Not sure if that helps or hurts one of the worst bullpens in the AL.

  1. WHEN, oh, when will Nick C (and others) learn to BUNT? This is getting ridiculous.Almost got out of that one without a DP tho…

    1. When will the manager stop obsessively try to give away outs? Bunting loses most battles with math.

      1. ,Jeff I think theres a time and a place for that bunt. Remember the Tigers are going to break the MLB record for grounding into DPs so an occassional bunt offsets that. The biggest problem I have with Ausmus bunting is he has the wrong guy trying to do it, with a better bunter on the bench. The Tigers are 31st in successful bunts out of 32 teams so we are not talking about something the Tigers can actually do. Therefore you might be right!

    1. Almost as terrible as Iglesias is at stealing bases. He’s now 9 for 15. That’s not great. Who keeps sending him?

      1. You made me laugh.
        But it IS pathetic, really.
And now our starter is gone. Let’s see —–which reliever will it be today, to let the Mariners tie it or go ahead?………….

  2. Oh, no —–mistake, mistake: one out for Hardy, now AlburQ.
Well, Al, make me eat my words….

  3. Can’t get complacent now. Need to tack on a few more (our bullpen is not exactly the cat’s pajamas)…

  4. Big sigh of relief! It felt like that was the whole Tigers season on the line right there.

  5. Good win…Stats Tigers only have 10 sacs..ranked second last in all of baseball, but to off set that ranking , they are first in runners thrown out stealing…Last year the Tigers were the team with the worst outfield in baseball. Now they are one of the best. To off set that there can’t possibly be a worse baserunning team over the age if 12 in any baseball league anywhere, than the Tigers….have a great day!
