I would just like to go on record as saying signing Lawrence would seem like a colossally stupid move. If you sign him, Durbin would have to clear waivers since he’s out of options, and that would most likely mean he’s gone. Then what do you do if Lawrence stinks the joint up?
You probably turn to one of your minor leaguers, and chances are you’ve wasted about a month or so figuring out that’s probably what you should have done in the first place. This move would leave me scratching my head, but so did trading for Casey, trading for Neifi, and signing Jose Mesa, so I expect to read the press release soon after hitting submit.
