Roster Moves

The Tigers bit the bullet and put Carlos Guillen on the 15 day disabled list. They also optioned Marcus Thames to Toledo. Replacing Thames is Alexis Gomez. Jason Smith will take Guillen’s place. To make room for Smith on the 40 man roster Gary Knotts was placed on the 60 day DL.

I’ll update this with commentary later tonight.

When is Magglio Ordonez coming back, haven’t heard anything in a while? And I am just asking, so be gentle, but when is Bobby Higginson coming back?

I figured Thames was just holding a roster spot until Ordonez came back, but brining up Alexis Gomez, it makes me wonder if Ordonez will be back any time soon.

I can see calling up Gomez – it doesn’t really matter if his service time clock gets started, and he was doing fairly well at Toledo (293/341/409).

But the return of Jason Smith? How many infielders does Tram need?

Ordonez will probably be back between the All Star game and end of July. He’s been rehabbing in a Swimex, as well as participating in baseball activities (including hitting live pitching).
