Tigers Minor League Wrap 04.25.10

Tigers Minor League Wrap 04.24.2010

Before moving into the run down of the box scores, the Tigers minor league system has been racking up their share of co-pays this week. Add in the Carlos Guillen injury and there is quite a bit of roster shuffling to cover.

Brennan Boesch of course was promoted to the Tigers to take Guillen’s spot. Clete Thomas is on the DL but is expected to be activated soon. Ryan Strieby’s wrist is acting up and so he went on the DL. Deik Scram was moved up from Erie to take Strieby’s place. Also, Ruddy Lugo was placed on the DL following last night’s scare. Fortunately it sounds like he will be okay.

Moving down to Erie they now had a spot that needed filling Christopher White is now a Seawolve.

Lakeland of course loses White, and they already have Daniel Fields in for Ben Guez (who went to Toledo when Thomas hit the DL). They also lost Lester Oliveros and Tyler Stohr to the DL this week. Chao Ting-Tang was added to the roster to be the team’s 3rd outfielder. Austin Wood and Robert Waite were added to fill the bullpen holes.

Now with Adam Everett leaving tonight’s game with a hamstring strain we’ll see if this all gets shuffled after tonight’s game.

Columbus 7 Toledo 1
Deik Scram made his Mud Hens debut and he doubled twice, pacing the offense. Phil Dumatrait was knocked out after 5 innings, 8 hits, 5 runs, 2 walks, and 1 strike out. Daniel Schlereth walked 2 and fanned 2 in 2 innings.

Erie 4 Altoona 3
Max St. Pierre hit his 3rd homer of the season and added 2 walks and a stolen base. Jon Kibler went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and 3 walks.

Tampa 7 Lakeland 13
Luke Putkonen allowed 3 hits and 2 runs with 2 strike outs and was lifted in the second inning. While he was hit around, it seems like an early exit. Ralwey Bishop doubled, homered, and walked. Billy Nowlin and Alden Carrithers each had 3 hits. Andy Bouchie homered. Daniel Fields singled and doubled.

South Bend 3 West Michigan 0
Jade Todd struck out 7 and walked just 1 allowing 2 runs in 6 innings. The offense consisted of singles for Jamie Johnson, Wade Gaynor, and Avisail Garcia.

Tigers Minor League Wrap 04.23.2010

Columbus 6 Toledo 2
Interesting night in Toledo as they didn’t have a position player available to DH. Also, starting pitcher Ruddy Lugo left the game with an “injured head” after the second batter he faced singled on a “line drive to pitcher Ruddy Lugo.” I have no other details but it sounds scary.

Jeff Frazier doubled and singled. Jeff Larish drew 3 walks. Scot Drucker had a sub 1.00 ERA going into the game, but had a rough night with 5 walks and 5 runs allowed in 2 innings.

Erie 6 Altoona 4
Andy Oliver allowed 4 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks with 4 K’s in 5 innings. Brooks Brown went 3 innings to get the win allowing just 2 hits while fanning 4. Deik Scram doubled twice and homered. Audy Ciriaco doubled and walked.

Clearwater 7 Lakeland 4
Rawley Bishop went 2 for 4 with a homer and Kody Kaiser also went deep. Gustavo Nunez went 2 for 3 with a walk. Charlie Furbush gave up 11 hits in 4.1 innings, but he also struck out 7. Austin Wood (pictured above) made his 2010 debut and struck out the side.

South Bend 3 West Michigan 1
Trevor Feeney was quite good. He last 8 innings with 8 strike outs and a walk and he surrendered all 3 runs on 7 hits. Wade Gaynor had one of the 3 Whitecaps hits and the only extra base one with a double.

Tigers Minor League Wrap 04.22.2010

Brennan Boesch continues to pound the ball, going 3 for 4 with a double and he picked up a stolen base. Max Leon had 2 hits and a walk. Alfredo Figaro fought his control and walked 4 and struck out 2 in 5.1 innings. Jay Sborz walked a batter but picked up his 6th save.

Jordan Lennerton homered and singled. Ramon Lebron lasted 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, 4 walks, and 3 K’s. Luis Angel Sanz fanned 4 in 3 innings of relief.

Enrique Gonzalez had a nice start allowing 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits, a walk, and 6 strike outs in 6 innings. Daniel Schlereth allowed 2 hits and 2 walks but fanned 3 and nobody crossed home plate on his watch. Offensively Ben Guez led the way with a double.

Bowie 5 Erie 3
Audy Ciriaco homered. Josh Burrus had 2 hits and a walk. Duane Below gave up 2 homers amongst 6 hits in 3 innings. It was another short outing for Below who is coming off of TJ surgery.

Brayan Villarreal continues to shine. He surrendered a solo homer, but he also fanned 9 and walked only 1. He has 26 strike outs and 2 walks in 15.1 innings this year. Billy Nowlin doubled and singled. Daniel Fields added 2 hits, a walk, and 2 stolen bases.

West Michigan 2 Dayton 5
Jamie Johnson went 3 for 3 with a walk and his OBP sits at .475. Mike Gosse added 2 hits and Wade Gaynor drove in 2 runs. Giovany Soto allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, no walks, and 3 K’s.

In other Whitecaps news, Jacob Turner’s start last night was pushed back due to forearm stiffness which doesn’t sound serious. Then again the organization has been down playing the Cody Satterwhite situation as well.

Tigers Minor League Wrap 04.20.2010

Don’t look now, but Armando Galarraga is dealing. He pitched 7 shut out innings and allowed 3 hits while walking none and fanning 6. That brings his K/BB ratio to 18:1.
