Matt Anderson never warmed up in this game, despite it being a save opportunity. -
Even so, scouts look at this team and scream that it’s time for the Tigers to seriously rebuild. One scout took out the Tiger roster this week and suggested trying to package Higginson, Matt Anderson and anyone else in a trade to get some good young talent.

Roster Moves
Dmitri Young was placed on the 15 day DL because of a hernia. Also, Craign Monroe was recalled from Toledo and Andres Torres was sent back to the Mud Hens. -
Seth Greisinger to get start on Friday
Greisinger is taking Lima’s spot in the rotation, and Jose is moving to the bullpen. To make room on the roster either Dmitri Young will go on the DL or Salazar or Torres will be sent down to Toledo. Welcome back Seth. -
BP 2002 Player of the Day-Jeff Weaver
If the Tigers get a real fly-chaser to man center field, Weaver’s ERA could drop by a full run. -
Not only can I not come up with a column idea for Wednesday, but the baseball game I’m watching for inspiration “features” the Tigers and Royals, who could make an NHL fan out of anyone. This is just bad baseball.

Nate Cornejo isn’t working out as the fifth starter, and while I suspect that Julio Santana will get smoked by any lineup with four or five left-handed bats in it, it’s better to let Cornejo work and learn in Toledo than make him a punching bag on a bad team.
