Kyle Farnsworth was suspended 6 games and Jeremy Bonderman was suspended 5. My guess is that both players will appeal. Farnsworth will appeal to get his suspension reduced. Bonderman will appeal to delay the suspension. With the doubleheader and no off days until July 28th, the Tigers will need all their starters. Bonderman will probably drop the appeal after pitching on Sunday. At that point the Tigers can look to the off day an get by with 4 men. The rotation will get shuffled, but Bonderman would then be eligible to pitch on the 31st. The end result being he pitches on 6 days rest instead of 4.
And for the record, Runyelvs Hernandez is appealing his 10 game suspension.

10 games for throwing a ball at someone’s head is ridiculous. MLB isn’t going to send an actual message to these pitchers until someone ends up seriously hurt, but it will be too late then. 20 games to Kenny Rogers for pushing a camera off someone’s shoulder, and 10 for throwing a fastball at a guy’s head. He could have killed him, and he sits out 10 games. Fucking ridiculous.

If they reduce this by even one inning, Selig is gonna find me on his porch. I can’t imagine how they could possibly rationalize that suspension, barring some sort of ceiling in the CBA.

I’m with Bryan. If Kenny Rogers gets 20 games (for doing something that amounts to bad P.R. for baseball), then Hernandez can get at least the same for doing something that could end someone’s career.
Throwing at a guy’s head should be an automatic 20 games. Especially if – as in Hernandez’s case – his intent is obvious.

10 games out is a slap on the wrist, especially for an AL pitcher who never has to bat himself and worry about payback. What a joke.
