Game 2010.057: Tigers at White Sox

Armando Galarraga gets the start. That’s pretty much all the story line you need.

watching this Strasburg kid pitch. pretty impressive early on.
rumor was we won’t face him when we play the Nats. Is that still the case?

Hint that it might be a long night: when you look at the line-up and see K-Burn batting 3rd

On the other hand the Sox have Kotsay (.193) DH-ing and batting 5th, so maybe it’s a draw…

Floyd threw four balls that at-bat to Santiago and got a strikeout without Santiago even swinging once

We’ve GOTTA start producing with RISP. It’s killing us.

This is depressing. Been enjoying Dickerson and Price more than Mario and Rod because as least they are talking about what has to get fixed.

I’m confused, who is this guy batting 3rd, the one who looks sort of like Raburn, except he’s hitting the ball really well?

Dan and Jim make it so interesting. They are talking about the stats for this Chicago reliever, then Brennan, just a great conversation.

They are talking about every one of the new rookies. All the pros and cons of the players to this point. They just are more honest about the pitchers and how they are doing, the players and how they are or aren’t hitting, the strenths of the rookies and how they think this is what will propel the Tigers going forward.

agree with you – they are just so much more pleasant. rod and mario can be funny, and emotional for a big Tigers play, but they don’t really get into many strategy talks, etc. and almost NEVER say anything negative or constructive about the Tigers…..about the most I heard Rod say was “we really need to beat the Royals”

there are few things that make me happier than beating the white sox, especially when it’s Gavin Floyd. he just really irritates me for some reason.

I couldn’t have been more over-joyed at ruining “Hawk Harrelson Night”, celebrating 25 years of FAIL in the booth.

Apparently Raburn was in right because Maggs has a dreaded oblique injury…which reminds me, there’s another vesting watch for Maggs this season, isn’t there?

Maybe tonight is the start of a Raburn resurgence; even if so, I’d rather see him at DH and Boesch in RF. I can only hold out so much hope for Raburn–he seems to have gone all Craig Monroe

He knows he’s on the clock. If he doesn’t produce, he’ll be cut lose. He had a good night tonight just coming in off the bench.

Best thing about tonight’s game–besides beating the Hawk Sox, in their park, which is always a warm fuzzy feeling–is all the runs we got. AND we got all these runs with Cabrera pulling an O-fer and leading the team in LOB. That’s huge; so many times our offense has been Miggy Or Bust.

I’m really liking Boesch. 3 Ks and then “hey, sombrero THIS.” But also he seems competent and probably improving in the field, and, surprisingly, big guy motors! There have been a number of routine grounders where he has been out by a half step, the guy is no slouch on the basepaths. I predict in the near future he will set the record for stolen bases by a player above 6’5′
(OK, I said that because, mostly. who DOES have that record?)

Corey Hart? Jayson Werth? Hart has 23 high 67 career, Werth 20 High 66 carreer.

He’s got some work to do. Gotta love the bat speed. I know he’s not polished hitter, but he hits mistakes and he hits them hard somewhere.

Wow, I had no idea Corey Hart was 6’6 (maybe I was distracted by the sunglasses). Baseball Reference lists Werth as 6’5, and Boesch as only 6’4, even though broadcasters regularly call him 6’6 (so I’m guessing he is 6’6 in the media guide). Nobody ever calls him 6’5, so apparently he is either 6’4 or 6’6 but definitely not 6’5. Hmm…if he’s 6’4, he’s a tall 6’4

During my high school days, the football team always listed the player weight and height. Now, that was many years ago. Back then I was 5’9 and never lied about my height and I was taller than half the team. It seems men almost always exaggerate their height. Even my father insisted he was 5’10 and I was taller than him. Some things never change!!!
