The last series was a good one in many way, and to quote a famous commenter on these pages, the “Tigers, for the most part , looked like a real baseball team, with a real manager that did baseball things.” This just a good weekend, or is this a turnaround? Stay tuned.

When was the last time the Tigers toyed with their opponent?

I think it was when Gates Brown and Norm Cash teased the Kansas City A’s back in 1966?

Is it safe enough to even give Sanchez an inning or two?

The Jays came in 8-2 in their last 10 so the score is somewhat surprising but not the game Fulmer pitched. Hopefully Boyd will continue it tomorrow.

i would like to see a rotation w/JV, Zimm, Fulmer, Boyd & Norris if (big “if”) the youngsters can be consistent and effective… and move Pelfrey out to the pen w/Sanchez (to bolster the pen, and their trade-value resumes) – and if all is going well at the trade deadline, try to trade one or both of them to a contending team that needs a SP…though DET will have trouble trading Sanchez’ contract, and would likely have to do what SD did in the CWS deal and pick up about 1/2 of remaining contract as part of the trade.

Always better to have too many solid pitchers than not enough.

Like Norman, I’m not sure why Hardy is back.

likely because he’s a lefty… Phil Coke added 3-4 (ineffective) years to his career simply because he was a lefty. Hardy had a good year in ’14 and a pretty good first half (season) in ’15, but struggled in the 2nd half.

DET farm system is finally starting to develop (and retain) some good pitching prospects…so help may eventually be on the way

    Fulmer’s 22 1/3 scoreless innings streak is third-longest for a Tiger rookie, behind John Hiller’s 28 2/3 in 1967 and Victor Santos’ 25 in 2001.

2 things I heard Heidi say during our “date” tonite: 1) Tigers are trending up, and 2) Fullmer is our secret weapon… if she says it, I believe it!

Looks like it was a double date.

    Maybin has been a real spark-plug for this team, but he gets the night off tonight, and Romine in CF batting 2nd. I’m not following the logic of either (giving Maybin the night off and batting Romine #2);

    1. Ian Kinsler, 2B
    2. Andrew Romine, CF
    3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
    4. Victor Martinez, DH
    5. J.D. Martinez, RF
    6. Nick Castellanos, 3B
    7. Justin Upton, LF
    8. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
    9. Jose Iglesias, SS

hope Ausmus proves me wrong for questioning his ‘logic’ – and DET puts up another 7-9 runs tonight
