Game 2014.111: Tigers at Yankees

Fun win last night. I listened to the last 7 innings on the radio. Lots of constructive criticism flows from our respective keyboards, so let’s give some credit where it’s due. Joba/Soria/Nathan were brilliant last night, and we don’t win that game without Alex Avila. We don’t even get to extra innings without him.

Last night’s effort shows you what you get from David Price on an okay night. Wait till next turn.

Torii Hunter out with a contusion on his hand.

7. Bryan Holaday, C
8. Andy Romine, SS

Verlander seems to work well with Holaday.

Except on the HR to Headley. I guess Holaday didn’t frame that pitch very well. Oh well, second string catcher.

Suarez out. Hunter out. The contusions just keep piling up.

    Miggy with an RBI!

Verlander’s pitch count high already – 66 after 4. We’re gonna need to turn this over to the BP earlier than the last couple of games probably.

Carrera – can we start this guy everyday for a while? He hit LH almost as well as RH in Toledo. And he’s not a kid (27YO).

Sorry Stormin Normin, don’t see 6 runs here. Keep your fingers crossed that the pitching holds up though.

Capuano pitching like Cy Young tonight. There must be something about the Tigers that makes these so-so pitchers take their game to the next level.

Romine the only guy not fooled by Cy Capuano.

Cy Capuano knocked out by the B.O.O.B.s

Um… which staff has 3 CYs? Wow. This is very frustrating. Capuano is a junk-ball pitcher. Even on a bad night the Tigers should put up four or five runs. Yet they make him look the third CY we’ve faced in as many nights.

You don’t see many ABs worse than that one by J.D. right there. 3-0 count R3L20…3 straight strikes, last two swinging.

You have to get the run to the plate, runner on 3rd less than two outs. Wow. This is has been painful to watch.

Yankee clown show trying to give this one away and the Tigers say “huh?”.

We got the short end of the clown stick there.

Wow, we bring in our Blowpen “ace”. I am not sure who is available but I do not like some of the calls Ivy League makes.

    And the bullpen melts down.

I guess the Tigers have some stock in breaking the Yankees historic run of playing 16 consecutive 2 run games

I predict a 1-2-3 ninth with less than 10 pitches

And if you think Cabrerra is “right” you don’t watch enough baseball…11 games..2 rbi..1 hr…0 doubles…squat…and as goes Miggy as go the Tigers…plus I will say this again..he looks like he would rather be anywhere than on the diamond!!!!!

He was spotted hanging out with Verlander and Kate Upton at a swanky Midtown Manhattan whiskey bar.

Asmus could always bat Romine in cleanup tomorrow. That might shake things up.

We throw the three most recent Cy Young winners at the Yanks the last three games and how many of those three did we win ……

We have lost more games to pitchers with 0-1-2 Wins under their belt than any team in baseball….oh thats right!!! we won’t face any of these bums in the playoffs…

3 Cy Young winners, A triple crown winner, 4 All Stars, 2 AL MVP’s, a Zillion dollar payroll, and a manager who has no idea how to get this team to play….. and were 3.5 games ahead of the Kansas City Royals who have Shields, Perez and Butler….just pathetic!
