Game 108: Tigers at Devil Rays

PREGAME: The last game of the road trip is here. The last of 7 straight dome games is here. It’s time for the Tigers to come home.

Nate Robertson will take the mound for the Tigers. Jason Seo, who has given up 18 runs in his last 3 starts, will pitch for the Devil Rays.

The next Tigers win will mark their most successful season since 2000 when they went 79-83.

Game Time 7:15

POSTGAME: Nate Robertson turned in the best pitching performance of the series, but has nothing to show for it. The Tigers bats were stymied by Jason Seo, save for a Craig Monroe opposite field shot. But the Tigers put up a good fight on a game that would easy to concede coming at the end of a long road trip. The Tigers set up the drama the way it had been occuring all season, but new Tiger Sean Casey couldn’t come through. Or as Lee said – There was no joy in Mudville.

I’d just like to point out that the entire country has been trapped in a sweltering heat wave for the entire week, and the Tigers have played indoors the entire time. Sometimes, it’s just your year….

Game 108 marks the 2/3 point of the season. So now you can add 50% of players stat totals for PROJECTIONS.

Will Brandon Inge hit 30 HRs? Will Justin Verlander win 21 games? Will Carlos Guillen steal 24 bases? Will Curtis Granderson strike out 175 times?

It’s all fun when you’re winning.

Yeah, past two games brought out some crappy infield outs by Casey.

But, it is still a bit early and should give him a chance in front of Tigers fans at home…got Cleveland and Bonderman up tomorrow!

I’m with Bryan. I’ve seen enough of Casey. Who cares about his career numbers. His past three games tell me all I need to know. Release him and call up Maybin.

Another great hit-n-run call leads to strikeout-throw out double play. Hit and run with DY on first and Monroe at the plate!!?? Ughh

It was a risky call. It didn’t work. It happens. If you only gamble when the odds are in your favor, your opponent can read you like a book and negate your advantage. Leyland’s habit of trying everything with everyone has to drive the opposing managers crazy. That alone is worth the occasional strike ’em, throw ’em out.

I think we should direct our anger at a more deserving source: that awful TV 20 cameraman who films every routine fly to the outfield as if it will find the seats.

is that the same cameraman who completely missed DY’s failed steal attempt?
