That game post was as brief as a Tiger rally.

I really struggled to stay positive…so I felt it best to pump up Raburn. He’s certainly not listening to my constructive criticism.

I see what Leyland is doing here, it’s a calculated gamble. Knowing we need at least 3-of-4 from the White Sox, he is playing the “If they lose to this lineup they will be demoralized” card.

    Leyland: –23 and counting.

Can the White Sox hounds us in outfield as much as the Angels did? A few gappers would be great!

Also, I feel this game/series has a much significance as the 163 game playoff we had against Minnesota in 2009. During the game Little Ricky Porcello met the call so perhaps he thrives on pressure and will do good tonight?

Playing the .170 hitting defensive liability Raburn over Berry is crazy. I hope he turns into the September savior Leyland seems to think he is but the numbers say it won’t happen.

Quintana has not been too effective his past 3 outings and his control has been an issue lately, 11 BB’s in his past 17 innings; but these and most stats (and logic) don’t seem to carry much weight with this year’s team and Mgr.

I have adjusted my expectations to right around zero for this series and the rest of the season… in summation, as a wiser man once put it, “sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes, well, the bear eats you”

Raburn really ties the room together.

          Clearly, Leyland is a Nihilist.

Why oh why is Rabum in the lineup and batting second at that! Mumbles has really lost his marbles. Tiger management have also lost their marbles, if they decide to keep him and his moron crew!

Under Mumbles management, this team has become a real joke.

OK, but you totally have to admit the part where Leyland shows you the flower on his lapel and then it squirts you in the face is pretty damn funny.

Austin Jackson, oddly enough, is a godawful baserunner.

And Miguel Cabrera is in a very untimely slump.

He’s Chet Lemon! Chet was fast, but couldn’t steal a base if his mom’s life depended on it.

        Coleman

Now Gary Pettis, there was a guy who could run the bases!

Watching the tigers in their first at bat doesn’t give me much faith in this series. They are 8-16 since the all-star in away games.

And we are screwed by the umps for the hundredth time this season.

The Tigers are such basepath clowns, it is so so funny, hahaha.

Raburn earns his spot in the lineup for the next three games.

Cabrera must be hurting; he is undoubtedly bad right now.

I say give him a day off and put Don Kelly at 3rd…what the heck, why not.

    2. Coleman Avatar

Over the last 7 days, Cabrera hitting a robust .188.

That is one talented guy, that Raburn. Good move Leyland.

      Make that: Brilliant Move, Leyland

Porcello now has to get 4 outs which ups his pitchcount and brings leyland in to replace him when it all began with mumbles. I wonder if some of this stuff with these bizarre lineups has infected Verlander but is not to be discussed.

I know this is heresy, but Austin Jackson has been a tad shabby in CF lately.

If the Tigers ever trade Porcello, he will pitch a no-hitter someday.

Sorry, but we just cannot have Peralta at SS next season.

I agree. But I was told by everyone that I know that we going to hit so well that it didn’t matter that we have a subpar defensive team. We all see how that is manifesting itself right now.,

Too Many Fastballs Porcello – 13 out of his 14 pitches this inning.

    1. Coleman Avatar
      Coleman

I think he’s vainly trying for strikeouts, since his ground balls are not being fielded.

      1. Vince Avatar

Unfortunately the fly balls weren’t being fielded either.

It’s not over yet, Alburquerque will strike out 4 per inning and Don Kelly will hit a pinch-hit 5-run HR.

      1. Coleman Avatar
        Coleman

Albuquerque is doing his part. Now all we need is that Don Kelly moment (anticipation building…)

  26. Coleman Avatar
    Coleman

Well, you have to tip your hat to Cy Quintana, that’s baseball, blah blah blah.

  27. Coleman Avatar
    Coleman

Why the hell is Infante swinging at a marginal 3-1 pitch with 2 out and nobody on? Is he planning to hit a bases-empty grand slam?

  28. Vince Avatar
    Vince

With AlAl having a wee bit of difficulty finding the plate, Leyland may want to consider bringing in another pitcher. This would be the perfect opportunity for Coke here.

Seriously all we can hope for is a Sox sweep just like everyone else has…finally putting all of us out of this misery…..if the Tigers finish 6 back maybe then and only then Capt Mumbles can take his lineups and ride off into the sunset….it might be worth it in the end….

    1. Jerry The Tiger Fan Avatar
      Jerry The Tiger Fan

Ir would be oh so worth it. I am now actively rooting for a 4-19 finish to the season to put the final nail in Ol’ Smoky’s coffin. C’mon Sox, sweep us!!!!

well, I see Raburn still can’t hit……still can’t field……..but Leyland insists on playing this bum…….I suspect I won’t be watching many September games; good thing NFL has started, I still got something to watch on the boober…….

here is exactly the way Mumbles thinks….Rayburn has 1 home run….therefore he will hit 19 of them in the next 22 games because the stats say so…………………………..just like Avila will drive in 50 runs in the next 22 games because his record shows that, in the stats!!!!
