Game 2017.14: Tigers at Rays

It’s all great when guys like Andrew Romine and Alex Avila get some big hits, but that’s only going to get you so far when the top half of the lineup is on vacation.

This is what we’ve got so far:

.200 / .748 Ian Kinsler

.204 / .672 Nick Castellanos

.222 / .784 Miguel Cabrera

.205 / .499 Victor Martinez

Upton is starting to come around (.250/.844), although he sits tonight for the Big Lettuce.

Today’s Lineup:

  1. Ian Kinsler, 2B
  2. Nick Castellanos, 3B
  3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  4. Victor Martinez, DH
  5. Tyler Collins, RF
  6. James McCann, C
  7. Andrew Romine, LF
  8. Jacoby Jones, CF
  9. Jose Iglesias, SS

Pitching: Jordan Zimmermann vs Chris Archer

Archer is having a great season so far: 2-0, 2.32.

Five should be plenty the way we are hitting.

That’s insane. The Tampa pitcher hasn’t thrown a strike, why bunt on the first pitch?

I wonder what number Cody Jones will be wearing for the Toledo mudhens tomorrow

i’m not watching but checked online and the comments indicated Jones looking very ‘rookie like’ tonight

two triples by Casty…what are the odds?!

top of the lineup may finally be waking up

When you’re hot you are, can’t believe Casty’s triple wasn’t caught but I give him credit for being patient and smoking the ball. Key to the inning is still Iggy’s at bat.

Jones is still our best defensive outfielder (ask Kaline) and should not go anywhere. Brad is responsible for the bunt call with a wild pitcher on the mound and Langoria for the DP.

Great battle back to take the lead. Tigers have quit on games like this before….

If Casty had any less range at third base he might as well take a chair out there…
..but he IS hitting that ball today!

Jones hasn’t seen a fastball in 10 days… Word gets out fast. He got that 2-2 slider just now and missed it by 2 feet.. Welcome to the real MLB

+1 If he would lay off the ones out of the strike zone, it would be easier for him.

    And would wouldn’t bring JWilson back for the 9 after 3 easy K’s.. Because?????…. I already know….

Jud i agree 100% – JWilson 17 pitches 3 K’s… on nights when a guy has his best stuff, why not pitch him more than just an inning?

this mindset that some MLB pitchers can’t pitch more than one inning per outing is nonsense…though i’m sure many relief pitchers have internalized that mindset

WHO DO YOU THINK IS MANAGING THE TIGERS, MADDEN OR FRANCONA?

AWille was so-so, JWillie was perfect. If we can get 3 runs in the top of the 9th we can avoid any drama from K-Rod.

Yes Jud definitely not madden nor Francona.

I just hope no one blames this loss on our DP guys!

Only our Tigers can do that!!!.. By the way JWilson 11 pitches 9 strikes no foul balls… KRod.. BB.. Double.. Ball game!
