Zumaya and Willis rehab progress

Joel Zumaya is taking his rehab up I-75 to Toledo and Dontrelle Willis will join up with Lakeland next week.

Zumaya hasn’t been particularly effective or accurate in his 2 appearances in Lakeland, and I’m a little surprised he’s moving up so soon. I thought they would have at least wanted him to throw on back to back days.

Willis hasn’t been anywhere on the field, but he’ll take those first potential steps back on Tuesday.

Ya I really hope to see Z back in his old form, it was kind of electrifying when he came in. At this point there does not need to be any rush. Lets get it right this time.

Good luck to both of them, but I’m not holding my breath on either.

Joel will pitch in relief today, but according to the DetNews, he STARTED twice in Lakeland. If that’s true, that explains why he hasn’t pitched in back-to-back games.

Take whatever time they need. Really. Need more time? No problem.

That was just getting him in games early. He still only pitched 1 or 1+ innings in each “start”
