Douglass wasn’t exactly great, but he had some good moments and his overall numbers weren’t terrible. It wasn’t worth their effort to clear off the DL so they’d have room to keep him?

The DL guys and FA’s will be taken care of soon enough. This move is more about clearing room for A)future free agent signings and B)adding some of the prospects. Both Joel Zumaya and Brent Clevlen will needed to be added to the 40 man this year. I’m working on finding out who else will likely be added.

I would have liked to see Douglass in some sort of long relief and/or starter role next year. He wasn’t terrible by any stretch.

also, it’s unfortunate that Rondell White probably won’t be on the team next year. don’t get me wrong, I realize we’re better off without him, but Rock was one of the few players on this team that I feel played hard and kept a generally positive attitude throughout his whole tenure here in Detroit. He was a lot of fun to watch, but it’ll be nice to have a left fielder who has a stronger arm than I do.

I saw a bumper sticker today that made me laugh. It said “Go Lions – And Take the Tigers With You”

Huh, I admit I’m a little surprised they let Douglass go that easily. He certainly wasn’t anything spectacular, but he was pretty damn serviceable.
