David Chadd on Ryan Perry

05.06.2008

Notes from the conference call with David Chadd: He identified Ryan as a top priority in the Cape Cod league. They liked he carried the high velocity throughout the course of the spring. It’s a player they were targeting all along. He could be used either way (as a starter or reliever). He needs to […]

WTF Tigers

I’m a pretty patient guy. My thing is to be pretty measured in my analysis. I try to consider all the angles. While I have the emotional response, I usually put that aside when it comes time to blog. But enough is enough. In a season full of disappointment, frustration, angst, and disbelief, today’s game […]

PREGAME: Good old game 54. The one-third mark of the season. Yeah. The Tigers journey to Seattle to take on the Mariners. Seattle snapped a 7 game losing streak when they took the last 2 games against Boston. Detroit will face Carlos Silva who they bludgeoned to the tune of 7 runs in 4.1 innings […]

Jacque Jones DFA’d

Well that was quick. I almost sensed that Leyland was giving him every imaginable chance and there was a hope he’d do something against his old team. Instead it was feeble offense and bad defense. The Tigers are a better team now. Matt Joyce gets the call. I’ll have more later.

Game 27: Tigers at Yankees

29.04.2008 118 comments

PREGAME: It will be two pitchers going tonight with a combined ERA of 15.51. That combined is added of course and not the average of Kenny Rogers’s and Phillip Hughes’s lines. Hughes has nearly as man walks as strike outs (10 versus 11) but that bests Kenny’s 15:9 ratio. The Tigers trot out their full […]

Bazardo out, Rapada in

11.04.2008 11 comments

After a miserable performance last night Yorman Bazardo has been designated for assignment. He is out of options but I anticipate that after his first 2 outings he’ll have no trouble clearing waivers. The Tigers also have the option of trying to work out a trade over the next 10 days. Taking his place will […]
