  1. The era of of whatshisname is off to a great start. What? Oh. You meant ERA. Yes, the Artie Lewicki ERA is underway. Right in line with the rest of the staff, no problem.

I don’t see the point of playing Kinsler much, either. Or of Romine in the outfield. Come on, man. Give us Jones or Adduci or some guys you could or could have called up from Toledo. Jeez. Give us some reason to be interested.

  2. appears DET will be going through what I and many others are dealing with in Houston – we’ve been flooded, and in many respects, what “we had”, is now damaged or destroyed and its time to eliminate the clutter and get leaner and more efficient… start fresh…and remember ‘the recovery’ takes time and its important to make the right decisions during that (recovery) “process”

hope you all are happy and healthy

    1. My problem with the rebuild effort is our manager and coaching team do not appear to be up to the task. Frankly, I’m not sure what Avila and ownership will do. I can even see them keeping Brad and the coaches. I would fire them at the end of the season even if I didn’t have a clue who the replacements would be and force myself to do something creative. First step would be to restore discipline and that stats with the remaining veterans on the team.

  3. Hey, the Tigers have a real game going on. Seems like a long time, even if it’s only been a few days.

    1. Don’t be fooled by the nature of baseball. In 1962 the Mets lost 39 one run games out of 120. KC’s pitching is bad enough to keep us in it.

      1. Good point, Tony, but any sign of life is welcome. This has actually become like watching an expansion team.

    1. Jud, I’m not sure he would purposely quit. But, even if he has why would you continue to run him out there day after day?

      1. Look at Kinslers body language.. He is just putting in his time.. Period.. When’s the last time he contributed a meaningful at bat… Last month sometime.. Maybe July!!!

  4. This Candelario guy can grow on me. Pressure for a new guy and he hits a line drive for a hit.

  5. Hey with Miggy batting 3rd today the final would have been 7-3. Fell short but still some fun.

  6. Ah, the beauty of a pitcher who can keep the ball down. Mikie was overmatched there, didn’t stand a chance.

If the next 22 losses in September are just like this one, I would call that improvement. And if they win the October game just to spoil the consistency of a losing record every month, I will cry foul.

  7. Great to see JD contribute to meaningful games. I’ve always liked JD because he was a “throw away” player the Tigers took a chance on and JD did everything he needed to do to make himself a top notch player. Who was the GM that said it was the biggest mistake he’d made in his career? If the Astros make it at least to the ALCS my guess is they will find a way to sign him at years end.
