Game 2017.127: Tigers at White Sox

Well, the final score is finally in from last night’s game: Miguel Cabrera 7 games, Gary Sanchez 4 games, Alex Wilson 4 games, Austin Romine 2 games, Brad Ausmus 1 game. That seems kind of steep for Miguel, considering he whiffed on his punches, but he could use the time off anyway.

Nobody’s saying’ nuthin’ about that dugout to-do involving Victor, Casty, and Verlander. But the consensus is that the guys weren’t really thrilled that Victor seemed kind of chummy with Sanchez after the whole thing settled down, considering Sanchez sucker-punched both Miggy and Castellanos.  Just for fun here’s a bunch of people saying a bunch of stuff about the brawls.

Today is must-watch JV. We’ll see if he’s still a little amped up from all the excitement yesterday. You might want to watch with special sunglasses though—they are going to be wearing some hideously bright orange uniforms with nicknames on the back.

Today’s Lineup:

  1. Ian Kinsler, 2B
  2. Alex Presley RF
  3. Justin Upton, LF
  4. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  5. Nick Castellanos, 3B
  6. Victor Martinez, DH
  7. James McCann, C
  8. Andrew Romine, CF
  9. Jose Iglesias, SS

Pitching:  Justin Verlander vs Miguel Gonzalez

  1. On the suspensions:

Miggy getting 7 games is totally appropriate. He, without a doubt, instigated the fight. A catcher taking his mask off doesn’t mean there has to be a fist fight like hockey players dropping their gloves. The good (or bad) news is that losing Miggy for 7 games shouldn’t have that big an impact on our results.
AWillie: 4 games only because he manned up and admitted he was throwing at the batter. +1

Sanchez 4 games: Not sure why, defense of his team mate? That will hurt the Yankees a lot more that the 7 games Miggy got. Since he wasn’t initially involved, he should have stayed out of it.

If I were going to hit someone in retaliation and I’m facing Mikie, J-Up and Miggy, I know who I would plunk. This year Miggy comes in 3rd.

Yankee Lettuce getting 2 games seems out of line. He took off his mask and Miggy assaulted him. Was he supposed to run?

Brad got one game as a not too innocent bystander. His job to maintain discipline is handled as well as his other duties.

Of course all of this nonsense would not have happened if the umpire behind the plate had his act together better. Now see how long it takes for MLB to admit that.

    1. Sanchez punched not one but two guys from behind while they were being held down. I think his suspension should be second longest. I’m sure the reason he wasn’t ejected was because the umpires didn’t see it. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the fact that he was the only catcher the Yankees had.

  2. MLB does what Brad doesn’t have the cahones to do.. SIT MIGGY for 7 games… But Miggy would rather go 2/12 with 0 rbi so he’s appealing…
Me I am 100% for the 7 games, who cares what the reason is!!!

Go JV, but don’t give up any runs, if u want a W….

    1. I firmly believe that his lack of production this year has really affected Miggy. If he were having his normal .320 BA a bunch of HR’s and RBI’s he would have went to the plate laughing and joking with Austin.

  3. Iggy continues to do the impossible. Now, could you picture Casty even catching that ball or being in the neighborhood?

  4. Another strong outing for JV but a walk off for the Sox. Victor was the only one who hit in the middle, J-Up even had the hat trick.

  5. Jimenez been struggling… Brad that’s who we all would have brought in in the 9th, game on the line…. Not..
Think Brad’s actually trying to get fired???
