Game 2017.55: White Sox at Tigers

Well, when Brad said the team would hit eventually, we knew he’d be right, eventually. Let’s hope there is some left.

As Jud mentioned, Matthew Boyd has been relegated to Toledo. The Tigers haven’t said who gets his spot in the rotation; Buck Farmer seems likely. In the meantime they have brought up Daniel Stumpf, who is a lefty reliever and spell-check villain.

As for Boyd, he says that they want him to regain his “killer instinct.” Others say it’s his fastball that he needs to regain. He’ll be back.

Today’s There Really Is No Place Like Home Lineup:

  1. Andrew Romine, 2B
  2. Alex Avila, C
  3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  4. Victor Martinez, DH
  5. JD Martinez, RF
  6. Justin Upton, LF
  7. Nick Castellanos, 3B
  8. Alex Presley,  CF
  9. Jose Iglesias, SS

Pitching: Jordan Zimmermann vs Miguel Gonzalez

They may need a lot of runs again today with JZ on the mound. The Romaine/Parsley combo returns. Ausmus pretends not to notice Avila has been looking like his old self at the place, and puts him in the second spot.

  1. I know it’s only 4 innings but this is that hard down slider Zim threw when he was with the Nats…..

  2. This is the Gonzalez we know and love. Curley fries and a 6 runs. A big bonus is that Zimm looks really good so far.

  3. Hey Alex, I want to officially apologize for all the crap I typed about you two years ago on DTW..
    2017..324..16 runs.8 HR.. 23 RBI
    ..pretty wow!

  4. i’m assuming Zimm will be on a short leash – though he’s been very effective up until the 5th

  5. Frankie Rodriguez did not leave the Tigers.. He just changed his name to a “young”. Shane Greene….. Same guy back in the day…

  6. The win matches our longest winning streak this year, 3! As bad as it’s been we’re only 3 games out of first.
