Game 2017.54: White Sox at Tigers

Maybe the road trip was as difficult on the guys as some say. Maybe they will play just the same at home, after a day off. We’ll see.

No better way to start a homestead than with Mr. Fulmer on the mound. He is the Face of WAR.

Today’s No Place Like Home Lineup:

  1. Dixon Machado, 2B
  2. Nick Castellanos, 3B
  3. Miguel Cabrera, 1B
  4. Victor Martinez, DH
  5. JD Martinez, RF
  6. Justin Upton, LF
  7. John Hicks, C
  8. Mikie Mahtook CF
  9. Jose Iglesias, SS

Pitching: Michael Fulmer vs Derek Holland

Mikie “I’m Still on the Team Somehow” Mahtook gets his turn in center. Nick into the 2nd spot to get him going. I don’t know, maybe Hicks will run into one.

  1. Well if all it takes is some home cooking maybe we can get Mrs. McCann, who is into ball.,
to go on the road and cook for the boys..

  2. And Hicks even did actually walk into one! And they walked Mr. LOB Mendoza 3 times. This is going well.

  3. I know you are thinking the same thing I am…….. Does this mean 1 run or another shutout tomorrow?????

    1. Yep, thinking the same thing. Games like this make you wish Detroit had a run bank.

Kinda wish J.D would have bunted to get the cycle, but I guess that would be unsportsmanlike.

      John Hooks? Hey, it worked.

  4. Boyd optioned to Mudsville…Stumpf brought up LH reliever???
    Breaking….Bless you Boys site.

here’s the official word, and Boyd’s acceptance of the move

…i think Boyd has great stuff/potential, but he’s obviously not been reliable the past 4 starts…consistency is the toughest thing to master for pitchers, especially young pitchers. Personally, i think his delivery enables hitters to pick up his pitches a split-second earlier than a pitcher with more deception to his delivery…i know tweaking a delivery becomes much harder as a pitcher grows older, but more deception (a/o not showing the ball so early in his delivery) may help magnify Boyd’s stuff…just a significantly untrained opinion, here.

  5. There must be more to come, unless they plan to call up and send down someone every time Boyd’s turn comes up. Or perhaps Warwick Saupold is going to get the next start.
