Game 2016.137: Tigers at White Sox

Well, I’ll do a little pinch-hit post here, and hopefully move the runner along. I like our chances with Verlander on the mound, and the Tigers have never seemed to be particularly intimidated by a legit Cy Young pitcher, Chris “All Jerseys Half Off” Sale.

Today’s Laborious Lineup:

  1. Maybin, CF
  2. Iglesias, SS
  3. Cabrera, 1B
  4. V Martinez, DH
  5. JD Martinez, RF
  6. Upton, LF
  7. Jones, 3B
  8. McCann, C
  9. Romine, 2B

  1. …the good news: JV pitching another great game…the not-so-good news: that 6th inning took a lot out of the tank and he’s up to 102 pitches.

…let’s hope the slow inning threw Sale out of his rhythm…and DET puts some runs/pitches on him in the 7th

bullpen or blowpen going to factor into this game…for both teams

    1. i saw that too…and his HR trajectory is quite impressive…or in this day-and-age…’suspicious’

God knows Twinkies fans need some good news and something to cheer for….they got pounded by KC today

  2. Sale a perfect example of my theory of why Tigers don’t hit lefties..Ausmus, Joyner, players say they don’t know…he is outside off the plate on 50% or more with his fastballs..Tigers swing at 90% of them..He is low with his slider Tigers swing anyway…swing batter batter…swing…
Bad lefties do this exact same thing to them!

    1. JV w/a high pitch count was out-foxed by Avila – who figured JV would want a first pitch strike – he got it, a 92 mph fastball

JV trying to do too much

  3. I’m glad Brad chickened out. He was going to bring in Ryan and we know how well that went last time against KC.

  4. Avila – two HR’s of his 6 total coming off JV…sad

    meanwhile Avila 59 K’s in 142 AB’s

  5. Two good outings by the Slinging Willies….now like Tony sez, let’s win this thing!

  6. Whoever thought Upton was a bust should now remain silent! He’s doing with his bat what only Cabrera can do.

    1. Doug we were discussing this the other day. If the Tigers make the playoffs his numbers, will be career normal. We all agreed thats more than good enough. We were told he was like this, yet hard to believe until you see it!

  7. My 8yo grandson has watched exactly 9 innings of baseball since Thursday with me. He comes in for JUps AB..Three dingers..one HBP…2 singles while he was watching.
You can’t make this stuff up!!!

    1. If he’s heard grandpa talk about J-Up this season he may not believe it’s happened.

    1. i suspect the Stros will find a way to blow this one…or CLE will find a way to win…again

  8. Coleman: I don’t care who’s pitching tomorrow, it’s OK to use the same picture again.

    1. Keuchel was supposed to start tonight, but the Stros shut him down for another week (or more), so CLE will have the edge in the SP matchups for the 3 remaining games, so i guess DET will be pulling for HOU’s offense to come up big in CLE
