  1. Ummm…… JV wiggles out of jam, but not the sharpest we’ve seen him.
Disturbing thought: I can see several Tigers being a dead out at 3rd on that line-out.

  2. JV thru 1 inning 0.00 ERA w/a 36.00 WHIP

i’m not watching the game, but on espn gamecast, it appears that JV isn’t locating his pitches or has no confidence in his stuff… or both. though freep game feed said ump calling a tight K-zone

  3. Watching the Tigers bat is a lot like watching the World Cup…no one scores!..in fact watching the World Cup when nothing is going on is about as exciting as watching the Sluggos bat!

  4. That was a frickin home run….glad we have replay!!!! That fan touched it no doubt…………..above the yellow line!

  5. Gose never came within a foot of any of those pitches…. then Mr Clutch Kibsler squirts a ground ball that barely makes it to the SS…..wow!

  6. We needed those 2 runs —-BADLY. That one’s on Gose —–what a poor chase for 3rd strike.

  7. Swing batter batter…Swing!….5-6 strikeouts on 5-6 pitches no where near the strikezone the past 3 innings…

  8. Hey Kisler we teach our high school kids to let the ball travel all the way to the bag instead of you reaching for it a foot in front of the bag and then trying to reach back to the runner….its a high school move!!!!!!!!!!!

    1. I said it before, jud: demote Kins to Little League, to learn fundamentals…..

  9. Cabrera has been a let-down today (and is even responsible for an unearned run).

  10. Thats the second shattered bat for Miggy in the last 3 games. You would think if you made $20 mil a year you could afford good bats…..just sayin!!!!!!!

  11. Miggy caught that last one with wrong part of bat, and broke it. Otherwise, he usually scorches those over 2nd-base bag.

  12. Aw, c’mon! That’s the best Al Al has looked in a while, and you pull him on a single. In this instance, I would have stuck with him.

  13. Bringing Joba in with 2 on. Add at least 1 more run for Pitt.
(At least there’s 2 out, so he might get by…)

  14. JD! JD! JD!
Too bad you can’t take a few other spots in batting order as well.

  15. Was that legal…I don’t mean running backwards. I mean tapping the ball with your bat on the ground to move the runner???? Never see the Tigers do that!!!!!!

  16. I hate when Miggy looks like he doesn’t want to be here….like today!!…Kinsler too…like today!

  17. The Pirates have left the strike zone about 10 times this game swinging and missing. The Tigers have left the strike zone about 30+ times swinging and missing…just an observation.!

  18. Oh, man —–hasn’t Wilson got enough left for 1 more inning? Now we’re gonna get Gorzo —–bye, bye ballgame.

    1. Guy’s a bulldog! He may be running on fumes, but still probably better than Gorzy.

  19. Story of the Tigers over and over and over in the Ausmus era…10000000 runners get on first.then ..3-16 RISP…no sacs…no hit and runs…no bunts….1 steal attempt ( wow), prolly went on his own..can’t figure out how to manufacture any runs…victor..Miggy..Kinsler….Cespedes…..Gose…must have sranded 100000 runners …After the game they will say….well thats baseball….Ausmus will say we really hit the ball great tonight….same old same old same…81-81..

  20. some perspective about yesterday’s starters:

    JV paid about $1.5M for yesterday’s start – ’15 season stats – 0-01 W/L; 5.09 ERA; 1.528 WHIP
    Cole paid $531K for the entire ’15 season – ’15 season stats – 11-3 W/L; 2.20 ERA; 1.143 WHIP

i know JV has been injured and has a very limited ’15 sample size, but still, the contrast is striking
