Game 2014.70 Postgame: Tigers 6 Indians 4

Solid win. Indians are gonna score at some point in time, they just happened to do it in a very dramatic fashion tonight.

J.D. Martinez, friends.

Nathan has been lights out two nights in a row. Props.

Royals lost tonight, Tigers back in first.

If we can win one more this weekend, I’ll feel good going into the off day on Monday.

  1. The only thing I hope for tomorrow is Capt Smarty have a quick hook ready for Verlander instead of the usual.6-8-10-15 runs. Get him out while its still a game. Try something different instead of the same thing you have tried 12-15 times and it hasn’t worked Once!!!!

    1. Yes, I agree. Quicker hook, and no more being talked into one more batter.

The Krol situation last night and situations like it are interesting. When is it time for the hook for a reliever? It’s a more difficult call. After the two singles? Right after the home run? After allowing the first batter to reach? In this situation, inning, score, and pitcher included, I’m inclined to say that first batter on = hook.

The Research Department might want to look into what has happened when a Tigers reliever has allowed the first batter of an inning to reach in 2014.

    Overlooked strategy: Don’t have a #6 hitter. Go with #5a and #5b.

Bunch the starting rotation, too. Make ’em all #3’s with letter designations. Verlander and Scherzer problems solved. It’s the No Ace Rotation. Sorry, too late, trademarked, patent pending.

  3. I see Avila returns to the lineup refreshed and ready to assault the opponents with his .200 BA..0-HR..0-RBI approach!…plenty of K’s though as he marches towards the 200 mark!
