Game 2014.67 Postgame: Royals 11, Tigers 4

Well, that hardly deserves a postgame post, does it?

Here is this week’s cumulative Ace Summary, sponsored by Hit Parade:

  • 10 Innings
  • 17 Runs
  • 22 Hits
  • 3 Walks
  • 7 Strikeouts
  • 15.30 ERA
  • 2.50 WHIP

Well, at least we’re in 2nd place.

JD Martinez went 3-for-4 in a losing cause (and was robbed of a HR by Cain), for his 2nd straight good game at the plate (not so good in right field).

minor move, but a step in the right direction.

…with Reed gone, maybe JV can get back to form…as JV seemed to catch what Reed has always had – a hard ‘thrower’ that had trouble with walks and locating his pitches… and problems throwing his secondary pitches for strikes – so hitters lock-in and tee off on fastballs.

I’m hoping Chad Smith and eventually Hanrahan can help stabilize the bullpen that has been up and down all year, but is really needed now that the starting pitching has been so erratic (or bad)

    1. Now I’m confused…is Kate Upton or Evan Reed to blame? It’s complications like this that make coaching difficult.

    2. Not that I will miss Reed, but the article reads like brass (Ausmus doesn’t lknow anything about Smith, so I doublt he called this move) is in panic mode. That may not be a bad thing, since nothing else has worked. But it’s a sad state of affairs when we start looking to OUR minor league talent for saviors (although Su is a success story so far). I mean, Chad Smith!! – who would have thunk it a month or so ago? And Hanrahan is not even a blip on the radar yet.

A few days ago I suggested trading Jackson for some bullpen help and bringing up Carrera. I was not kidding. In that scenario we would look to another team’s minor talent for help, a likely better bet IMO.
