Blaine Hardy promoted

Yes, this is a separate post. That’s how interested I am in back of the bullpen moves right now.

Don’t know much about him, the throws left, strikes out a lot, walks a few too many. Stats here. He’s 27 years old, so not really a prospect anymore.

Texas alum Corey Knebel down.

  1. I am for trying anyone we have in the minors. If Reid, Coke, AlAl, Nathan, Krol, struggle try someone else. Every other team does it. Theres no magic involved..just results. If you continue to do the same things over and over and over you get the same results. If you are afraid to change you won’t survive

  2. Y’all may recall that Blaine Hardy nearly pitched himself onto the team in spring training – as a non-roster invitee. I saw him a couple times. Think jud gave him good live reviews. He looked a bit less good late in ST – command was starting to falter. Not surprised to see him, don’t see it as panic. Knebel needs to pitch more regularly and really isn’t close toready, so I shouldn’t be surpassed that Hardy in didn’t mean Coke out (though my heart did skip a beat when I saw “Hardy” in a headline).

Hardy could not possibly be worse than the current lefty bullpen duo. Krol’s a huge disappointment. There has been no matchup advantage in even having these lefties, as far as I can tell. Not sure, but I think the stats will bear that out. I think Al-Al (among others) is probably better against LHB. Has been before, anyway. I cringe at Coke or Krol facing anyone. Krol’s ERA masks his terrible IRS.
