  1. Fielder has spanked Danks going 5-9 with one homer. Perhaps his homer drought will end today?

  2. The LOB parade marches on.

  3. Looks like we are starting another streak ….. a losing streak! could the Roayals possibly catch and pass us?

  4. I’m not going there! Keep the faith!

  5. Now we need Porcello to man up and put some zeroes for the next three innings or so. Big blow by Cabby to get us back to even.

  6. Just trying some reverse psychology ….. and Miggy is helping me out!

  7. And that is why Cabrera is still in the lineup with all of his injuries.

  8. CLE just put up 4 runs in the top of the 8th against (former Tiger) MIN pitcher C. Fien – who failed to record an out in relief

  9. Is it just me or does Smyly look slightly off ever since giving up that game tying HR to Konerko at Comerica a couple of weekends ago? He’s not Albuquerque or Coke level terrible by any means, but looks as though he has lost a bit of confidence. That was a bad walk to allow to a lefty hitting .240. Now we get Al-Al.

Edit: Al-Al for a change bails out a couple of his teammates (Smyly and Iglesias) by getting the routine pop fly to CF. Still 6-3 Tigers thru seven innings in ChiTown.

  10. Since we got Veras, Leyland uses Smyly like just another LOOGY now. Personally, I thought he was most effective when he was pitching longer relief.

  11. Leyland is in full panic mode now.

  12. I agree 100%… I believe JL has underutilized one of the better relief pitchers (Smyly) in the AL…

  13. 9th walks!! – especially lead-off walks! I don’t get it!

call me crazy, but with a 2-run or more lead, I would rather see a lead-off HR than a lead-off walk

  14. They’ve got a barn burner going on in MN. CLE went ahead with a run in the top of the 10th and now the Twins have tied it.

  15. Chris Perez/CLE gives up another HR (to Mauer) in the bottom of the 10th, MIN ties CLE.

KC about to lose to MIA – trailing 5-2 bottom of 9

  16. Better get Coke warmed up.

  19. i’m pretty sure he’s already tried that a time or two

  20. Not an impressive win, but it counts. They barely manage to salvage the road trip, going 6-4, one that started 4-0. How they can look so good at home but so blah on the road is beyond me.

  21. VLE back on top in MN.

  22. Interesting stat: Tigers have more extra-inning losses than any team in league except Houston. They are 5-11 in extra innings, and in three of the five wins, they didn’t score until the 14th inning

  23. ….or not. :-)

  24. Been that way the entire Leyland era Vince. I don’t get it either, but its been a pattern for about 7 years now. The other disturbing pattern is the awful home performances on get away days, mainly those Thursday matinees at Comerica. I think our record in those games is about as bad as our road record over the last 7 years. Leyland doesn’t usually help matters either by trotting lineups chock of Kellys, Santiagos, and now Holadays on those Thursday matinees.
