Minor League Wrap 5.20.2011

Toledo 2, Charlotte 1 (White Sox)

Adam Wilk (LHP) improved his record to 3-4 with the win last night. In 7 2/3 IP he gave up 7 hits and 2 walks, but held Charlotte to only 1 run on a solo home run. He struck out 4. Brendan Wise (RHP) faced one batter and retired him. Enrique Gonzalez (RHP) got his 6th save of the year after pitching the 9th.

Ryan Strieby (1B) had the only RBI of the night for the ‘Hens after a solo homerun. Danny Worth (3B) went 2-4.

Erie 2, Bowie 6 (Orioles)

Bowie controlled this one from the start. Despite a two-run Erie rally in the 8th, the outcome was never in doubt. Luke Putkonen (RHP) became the losing pitcher after allowing 6 runs (5 earned) on 6 hits and 3 walks over 5 IP. Hamilton and Waite combined to throw three scoreless innings. Putkonen dropped his record to 0-5 on the season.

Jamie Johnson (CF) and Bryan Pounds (3B) each went 2-4 and Pounds recorded the only RBI for the SeaWolves. Justin Henry (2B) went 0-1 but drew two walks and came around to score a run. In 98 ABs, Henry is hitting .357 with an OBP of .447.

Lakeland 4, Jupiter 1 (Marlins)

Jay Voss (LHP) started for the Flying Tigers and pitched 7 strong innings: 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 K. He got the win and improved his record to 3-0 on the year with a 3.21 ERA. Stohr and Kenny Faulk (LHP) combined to throw 2 scoreless innings. Faulk picked up his 9th save of the year.

Jordan Lennerton (DH) went 2-4 with an RBI. Brent Wyatt (LF) was 1-1 with a run scored, an RBI, and a walk.

Despite going 0-2, Corey Jones (2B) led Lakeland with 2 RBI (sac fly and force out).

West Michigan 1, Fort Wayne 8 (Padres)

Kevin Eichhorn (RHP) started for the ‘Caps and allowed 5 runs (3 earned) in 6 2/3 innings. Eichhorn struck out 5 without walking a batter. Nate Newman (RHP) gave up 3 more ER in 2/3 of an inning. Logan Hoch (LHP) looked good in relief: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB.

James Robbins (1B) had the only RBI for West Michigan after a solo homer in the 5th. Jeff Rowland (OF) went 2-4.
