Game 2010.150: Royals at Tigers

Last home stand of the year for the Boys.   Tigers have dominated at Comerica, where they are 19 games over.  But the Twins have been so good that even if we were .500 on the road, we’d be 5 games back.  Twinkies are only 1 game out of the top spot in the AL.

Grienke v. Porcello in the opener.

Did you know the Tigers are 45-27 when we score first?

  1. Why does it seem like KC is always some of our last homestands. Who can forget ’06 homestand when we lost the division title giving it up to the Royals 4 games in a row. That still gives me a sick feeling in my stomach.

Inge did make a nice play last night, stephen. Outstanding. But, he still can’t hit.

  2. Here we go with the technology. Thank god! It can’t some soon enough fo me. Wee Willie gets his first HR:-)

  3. Things seem very quiet here these days so I wanted to chime in with my 2 cents: I like what the Tigers are showing us these past few weeks. This year may be over, but next year seems very promising. If they can even things out and play more consistently, they have a shot at being really, really good.

  4. I don’t know PHT, I still see a lot of holes. Who knows what we can really expect out of Rhymes and Wells next year. Boesch may not even make the team. We very well may not get 15 HRs out of anyone other than Cabrera this year… Our OBP is great, but we don’t have anyone to drive in runs. We have to find corner outfielders and a 3B who can hit 20 HRs and drive in 80. I don’t think Maggs can get to 20 HRs anymore. Did you know that Peralta’s 74 RBIs are 2nd on the team?

Our front two starters may be tops in the league, and I like our chances with Porcello and Galarraga at 3 and 4. But we still need a fifth.

And then there is the bullpen. Seay is a question mark, Zumaya is an even bigger one. Does anyone trust Valverde? All we have are a bunch of kids who frankly, have not looked that good.

Lots of money coming off of the books, but lots of holes to fill.

  5. Seay prolly won’t be ready til ’12. Hopefully, Galarraga is gone. Valverde must be injured, probably from pitching those 60 pitches. He also got very out of sync because the ball team just wasn’t winning on a consistent basis after the All Star break. I totally trust him for next year if he’s healthy.
