Game 2010.068: Diamondbacks at Tigers

Max Scherzer faces his former team and one of the other players involved in this past offseason’s blockbuster trade. Scherzer will try to move his record to 2-0 this season when pitching against starters named Ian.

  1. another great job by Scherzer kind of makes you feel better about the Jackson trade

  2. Wow, just 6 posts before this one. That’s probably an all time low for a game thread, especially in a great game like this one. I listened to most of it on the radio in my car on my way back home. I must say Dickerson and Price are far better broadcasters than Mario and Rod.

  3. I was watching the gane and setting up a wireless printer, it was a great game. We have the horses when everything is firing together. I agree, early results are that Scherzer is a pretty decent pick up.

Did anyone notice the buzz in the crowd when Z hits 100. Its kinda of neat on TV.

Question …. Why not leave Z in there to close it out if he can? Give Valverde a rest. We have the Mets, B raves and Twins coming up.

I hope all the fathers are having a great fathers day and Billfer is at the park with his kids. Looking forward to a 4 game stretch in the D over the 4th of July. It will be my most games in a row and will be able to see two teams. Planning on Ninos and Chellies before two of them, Bill likes Parklands or some thing (Billfer help me out here) and who knows for the 4th one.

Lets >>>> GO TIGERS We are playing some pretty good teams this week, I think its a great gut check before the All Star break to see how we do against some of teh best teams out there and on the road to boot.

    Ok Im done

    1. Zoom is a setup guy, Valverde is THE closer and my guess is that Leyland will stick to that program. Since Valverde has been so lights out efficient I am pretty happy with that. I am not a big fan of seeing Z in a closer role unless absolutely necessary and even then would have reservations. With an off day tomorrow they should all be well rested in any case. The bullpen really hasn’t been working that hard lately with the starters going deeper into games, something we were fretting over a few weeks ago. It will be interesting to see how they handle the squad now that we are playing without a DH the next six games – who will replace Porcello?

      1. I was also wondering who would replace Porcello. I’d read somewhere that Gonzalez may be stretched out.

Also, any word on Jackson? Hopefully he’ll be back in CF on Tuesday. And although Kelly has played good defense, nobody moves like Jackson out there.

  4. Keith I agree. Said the same thing the other night. Dickerson and Price have been getting me to tune in more and more. Did today relaxing on the deck

  5. I have been watching MBL.com on the computer and listening to Dickerson and Price thru the online feed from WXYT and they sync perfectly most nights. Works out here on the West Coast anyway!

    1. I used to do the same thing… This year I manned up and bought the DirecTV baseball package.
