  1. Well, we shall find our probably very quickly how the whole arm slot thing is doing.

  2. Jackson CF
    Damon LF
Raburn (late reslacement for Maggs) DH
    Cabby 1B
    Boesch RF
    Carlos 2B
    Inge 3B
    Lard C
    Worth SS

  3. Why, in the name of all that is righteous and holy, do we have a .185 hitter batting third? There is no justification for this kind of batting order! Submission of this kind of batting order should be a reason for immediate institutionalization. This makes no sense at all! No wonder we can’t score; we have a #9 hitter batting third.

    1. Jim Leyland likes to just put whoever replaces a guy and put him in their spot. Kelly leads off when he plays CF for Jackson, for example. I think its stupid…Raburn is not a good player.

    1. and far too many bad at bats. there’s aggressive and there’s foolish. when danks is at 71 pitches through 6 innings, i lean towards the latter.

      1. Think of how many bad bats we could have if Boesch and Jackson weren’t doing so well as rookies.

Actually, don’t think about it. You may get ill.

        1. Well if Boesch and AJ disappeared, they would only be replaced by guys in the minors that are still better than our bad bats of Everett / Laird / Inge and company. It’s unavoidable to have serious bat problems when you can’t even figure out how to get your top 9 hitters into the lineup. But at least we have defense. LOL defense.

    2. Yeah one hole in DD’s head, and one hole in Illitch’s bank account, it’s leaking 1,000 barrels of pennies a day.

  4. That is tough..your manager calls a pitchout and you have the squeeze dead to right and your pitcher, who has been lights out and in complete control..is unable to throw a pitchout. The Tigers have a lot of guys like this Bondo, JV, Zumaya…Guys that seem to get worse results than there stuff deserves. JV has had a great career, but, when you look around the league and see some of these ERA’s its amazing w/ his stuff he sits 25th in the AL in ERA. Bondo’s meltdowns are monumental and now Scherzer gives up a big run, because he can’t execute a simple play. I’ll take this start every time, but, it is usually little things that cost you a game. I suspect the Tigers, though, will be out of it by the All-Star game

    1. A week ago, I thought the bad play was an aberration. Now I’m concerned that the good play was the aberration. Twins are much better than we were all hoping they would be. Yeah, good chance we’re free in August and September to pursue other interests.

      1. I think we are doing exactly what we are supposed to be doing minus some small statistical variance. If you would have asked me how many games out of first we would be after 60, I would have said probably just 2-3, and we are only 4.5, so we are right where we should be considering the Twins are doing maybe a tiny bit better than expected too.

    2. The sad thing is we have a fairly easy schedule in June. I though for sure the Tigers would at least be neck-and-neck with Minnesota on July 1. Yet we can’t even take a series from KC or the Whitesox. Pathetic. This team will be the sellers category by July 1.

  5. if maggs is available to pinch hit, this would be the time to use him. i really don’t trust raburn in this situation (bases loaded one out).

i see raburn will bat. hope he proves me wrong (color me skeptical).

    1. at least it was only a popup and cabrera gets a chance. i’ll take that as a victory for raburn.

  6. How great would it have been to see Carlos batting there, instead of Raburn?

  7. zzzz…zzzz…zzzz.

Oh well. Let’s just vote Inge player of the game and move on from this one.

  8. Magglio must really be hurting if he can’t even PH. Sad. Don’t really fault Cabby. He’s been huge this year, and I’m sure he’s feeling some pressure to produce everytime, since nobody else can. DFA Raburn please after this game.

  9. This is so frustrating. Terrific performance from our starter and our offense goes into hiding. There is no reason to lose this game, or this series or the series to KC.

  10. I’m almost afraid to watch this team play the Pirates — the way they are playing the Pirates will take two out of three.

Note to Ilitch: that’s when I — and I’m sure a lot of other ticket purchasers — begin to lose interest.

  11. Well its very discouraging. I think most long time fans of the Tigers and true baseball fans looked at this team and said “DD is nuts, if he thinks this is a team that can compete” 1) We have a good bullpen 2) one reliable starter and 4 hit or miss guys 3) we have a poor defensive team (or average at best) 4) C, and SS will not hit 5) We need a rookie to leadoff and another rookie to hit behind Miggy. 6) The only constants we have are the pen, Verlander, Miggy, and 3 old guys..who are all in some way a defensive liability. 7) Our bench is pathetic 8) we do not have a coaching approach or really the players to be aggressive on the base paths or play small ball..we essentially wait for the 3 run homer..w/out much power. So, yes, this was to be expected, but, when they got through the tough part of the schedule..and were in it…the fan in all of us made us believe…but, baseball is a marathon and has a way of allowing the cream to rise to the top. I would be very surprised if we are above .500 unless..we get some surprises from the youth. The long season has a way of beating down rookies and young players and our old guys will get hurt.

Note to Illitch: I am flying in to Detroit for a week and was going to catch a couple games..Now, I think i will go to just one..just to go. DD spends your money like you are his sugar daddy. Don’t you want something for all the money. You got ripped off.

    1. look on the bright side – if we lose 85+ games and finish with a decent pick, next year’s draft is apparently loaded with talent. plus we’ll have a much cleaner payroll

      1. I am optomistic. I always thought this was a team that was ready to compete in 2011-2012. I am just selfish because.. I am a teacher who has the MLB Extra innings package and is off for the summer (at least until 2 a-days start in August)

I love how there is a game nearly every day of the summer and I love the Tigers. I would just like to see some improvement in their approach…Inge if you are gonna hit .230 try to go the other way once in a while. It appears to me that we don’t score forever and nobody looks to be battling at the plate. Miggy obviously is awesome, but, if the bad hitters would at least have the approach of Guillen and Maggs, they would be watchable regardless of results..IMO. I personally love watching carlos Guillen hit..He is such a pro..I equally despise watching him play defense, but, 2B is by far his best position for this club.

    2. I would recommend not going to any games. Every time every one of you spends one dollar on a ticket or concession, all you are doing is contributing to the losing. You are giving them fuel and encouragement and validation that you approve of how they run things. I only go to games this year because my dad gets tickets by deafault through another deal and I pleaded with him last year to bow out of the ticket pool and I couldn’t convince him to do it. So when I get stuck going to the game I never buy more than one hot dog just so I can participate in the process for my dad because it’s so important to him, but I think it’s very important for all of us to think about what kind of team we want in Detroit, and if you arent happy with the Tigers, then just remember that every single dollar you give to them whether for a ticket or a beer or a shirt, is one more small percentage of you taking responsibility for the team that we have.

Please people, do not spend money on the Tigers if you are truly unhappy with the team. It may not seem much individually, but if enough people come around, then the sums can start to add up. I just try to do my part to stay away from as few games as possible and to try and spread the word and sell as many people as I can from abstaining as well.

  12. sigh….I’m not even sure what to say; most of my thoughts I see posted above. And I agree: how can we only go 2-4 against 2 crap teams, the Royals + Chisox? This is disgusting. We got 3 hits today…..and Inge + Laird got 1 each. In 27 innings v Chisox, we got decent offensive production in only one. ONE INNING out of 27! And we scored in only 4. Coming out of spring training, I really thought this team would do well…..now I’ve seen reality and it’s .500; 81 wins. Raburn needs to be sent back down; bring my grandmother up – she could hardly do worse [and she’s been dead for 30 years]. DFA Inge + Laird now: this team’s in basic freefall mode. When do the Wings start again?……. 🙁

  13. next Pittsburg comes in and they will be starting :
    in game one: Cy Young
    in game two Cy Young
and in game three Cy Young………………………………………..or so it will seem!

    1. He had a .346 SLG average in the minors for his career. He STILL hasn’t earned a shot to get one day at the big league level. This guy is a garbage prospect with no potential. It’s extremely rare for a guy to suck horribly as a hitter in the minors and then all of a sudden be good in the big leagues. Danny Worth is just an Adam Everett clone, and now he is getting tie that should never have happened just like Everett. More baseball madness. I’ve never seen a sport so full of non professionals like I do in baseball. It’s the most jacked up sport in the world in terms of placing the right people in the league to begin with. Every day that he is on the roster is just another day that DD discredits the prestige and credibility of our team.
