    1. Hopefully it’s just a bad day; maybe the powder blue is getting to him. Let’s hope he’s not turning back into Jeremy Bombedagain

  1. Well, The Royals and their cy young worthy staff is at it again… It amazes me that these guys suck because..the Tigers have only hit their bullpen all year…These starters are like the Braves of the 1990’s. I am glad Leyland finally came out and said the obvious which is: “You can’t blame it on good pitching all the time, at some point you have to hit.”

OK.. Bondo has kind of imploded, but, considering we can only win w/ a near shutout performance…it is time for the bats to save their pitcher and Leyland, we have a day off tommorow, so if Bondo wants to throw 0-2 and 1-2 pitches right down the middle, bring in Bonine. Don’t give this one away..even w/ the Tigers pathetic offense..it is probably gone all ready.

  2. I am amazed that Bannister is a bad pitcher because every time the Tigers face him, he is the 2nd coming of Sandy Koufax.

  3. Well, this inning we may get a run…Cabrera (The only guy worth a crap in the entire lineup) is coming up…This is a last place ball club, if you take away Cabrera. That is a lot of money being paid for absoute stiffs. All those bad hitters and we lead the league in errors and have possibly the worst infield defense in the league. What’s going on Dombrowski?

  4. The umps are $crewing over the Tigers batters pretty good today and JL just sits in the dugout looking into his crystal ball trying to get a feeling to do something.

  5. Nothing is going good for the Tigers today. The sooner we can get to the Royals bullpen the better.

  6. So far, this game has been very frustrating to watch…..even more than Friday’s game, during which the sorrows were at least eased by the cold pops.

    1. I think that was just the highlight of the game, when Mario slipped up and talked about the Triple Crotch Watch

  7. Being spanked by the Royals is just patheitic, and too much for me to take……it’s off to the local watering hole.

  8. This team as currently constructed is a .500 team at best. This is a waste of a fans investment. I have been very critical of Jim Leyland in the past, but, I think its unfair. After today, they will be 2 games above .500..How can we expect anything more? We have a staff of Verlander, Porcello, Scherzer, Bondo and Gall/Willis. Only Verlander is a proven commodity..of those guys. Porcello will be fine, but, he has been terrible (and may be all season before returning to form in 2011) Scherzer (this guys a wild card and mostly a bust) Willis (LMAO) ..Gallaragga appears to be back…but, Bondo (he is a wild card..who has never been reliable in his career. Bondo is apt to have 5 great outings and then 5 straight bombings… In any event, that is a pretty scary staff ( a lot of hope of wish in that staff)…Now the pen has been better than we could ever hope, but, they are human and will fail occasionally ( enter Mr. Perry) Now, the lineup..we are relying on one guy ..or atleast one guy and a few old guys..then we NEED Boesch and Jackson to be great…I find that hard to believe that they will produce like All-Stars all season..now add to that the terrible C and SS position and allowing Inge to be Inge….You could argue that we have the worst infield range in the AL and our corner OF are below average..We also lead the majors in errors. It is a miracle this roster is 2 games above .500 and we will not come close to 90 wins this year…so, either the Twins come back to us or we can’t win it. I love DD for how he has resurected the franchise, but, we could field a 2nd team w/ all the money he has wasted and at some point he needs to be called on spending a TON of money…yet year after year, Leyland must make due w/ a very flawed baseball team. In 2007 (we had no pen) In 08 ( we had no defense ) in 09 we needed a 20 year old to be our #2 pitcher. He goes into a lot of seasons w/ a lot of best case scenarios for the Tigers to compete. This year, even the best case scenario is a bit far fetched. Sorry, for the rant..but i am just coming to terms w/ this fact.

    1. Typical Chris rant. It’s almost like you copy and paste the same post over and over again.

  9. One final statement on the Tigers… They can’t hit worth a lick…this has been the case for years. I think the roster is weak, but, at some point..since you can’t change the roster. i think it is time for a new hitting coach. When do the Tigers consider this option?

    1. Oh come on now, McClendon was a career .244 hitter!! He knows what he’s teaching…

      /sarcasm

  10. Willis got a win last night for Arizona. He also got a hit and scored a run. Go figure.

  11. Ouchudied…do you really think I did not know Willis was not on the team anymore? are you really that stupid? I was writing about the team in general and how Dave did not give Leyland a fair shake at winning the division. So, When assessing the roster..you had to put Willis in the rotation because I was assessing the first part of the season. i guess I could be as big a smart ass as you and say…You did know that Willis was once in the starting rotation for the 2010 Tigers? Ppl that can not read something and get the point, so they make a snippy comment are all over the internet. It is probably why our society is so dumb. No critique of the comment…no disagreement w/ my assessment…no challenging of my analysis or pointing out the errors of my thinking. No, This guy thinks..I believe that Willis is still on the team….God bless America.

    1. Dontrelle Willis plays for the Diamondbacks. They are a baseball team located in Phoenix, Arizona.

  12. I agree with alot of what you say Chris. but one of my main disagreements would be the buck stops with the manager. I know there are many inferior players DD has stuck on Leyland but I have to think if Leyland was any kind if motivator at all he could get more out of what he has. He is the most loyal manager in all of baseball a fine quality to have but most players who do achieve under him do it on their own..And maybe when you make a gazillion dollars a year you are supposed to motivated your self, but there i a lot missing from the management stand point….accountability is totally missing on this team and I think Leylands biggest fault is he does not make his players accountable to anyone…I know I talked about motivation and accountability here but I think one leads to the other….but maybe thats just me!

  13. I totally agree with Chris in that you have a half of a batting line up and a half of a starting rotation can you really expect to win more than half of your games…you read it here first 81-81

    1. A couple of miscellaneous points:
      1. After today: 247 runs scored, 245 runs allowed = .500 pathagorean projection.
      2. Within the Central, ONLY the Twins have a winning record (+7) in head to head competition.
      3. Of the position players only 6 have an OPS+ over 100. Everett was 26, Laird sits at 27. By contrast Cabrera is at 195
