Jeff Frazier doubled and drove in 3. Max Leon added 2 doubles. Armando Galarraga allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks in 6 innings with 6 strikeouts. Jay Sborz got the 4 out save capping it with a strike out on a breaking ball.

Erie – PPD

Luke Putkonen pitched the first 6 innings of the shutout allowing 3 runs, 3 walks, and fanning 3. Brent Wyatt and Rawley Bishop each had 2 hits.

West Michigan – PPD

  1. It seems from this story that Galarraga has been pitching better lately, but his win-loss record and ERA don’t translate to domination at the major league level, unless the International League and Toledo ballpark are hitters’ paradise compared to the AL and Comerica.

    His future rests pretty much on whether he’s fixed his release-point problem and his arm miseries of last fall have cleared up. If that had been the case in spring training, Galarraga would have kept his spot in the rotation against Robertson and Willis hands down. Until he recovers his old form, major-league hitters are going to continue to tee off him, and Galarraga is going to have a difficult time hanging on to a major-league roster.
