Game 2010.041: Tigers at A’s

It will be Tyson Ross against Jeremy Bonderman as the Tigers go for the mini-sweep of the mini-series.

Ross only has 1 career start and he allowed 3 runs on 3 hits with 3 K’s in 3.2 innings. For the season he has 22.2 innings and only 6 walks and two homers allowed. The peripherals are strong for the right hander.

Bonderman hasn’t started against the A’s since April of 2006 so there is no relevancy whatsoever. Bonderman was great his last time out. In a week in which the starting pitching was great against the Yankees, Bondo’s start may  have been the best with 7 innings, 2 runs, 1 walk, and 7 K’s.

  1. with Porcello being inconsistent, we really need Bondo to step up and be a legitimate #2 starter again

  2. Cliff Pennington – I don’t know him, but with a name like that he is probably a douche.

  3. Nice “small-ball” run there, thanks to Alex “Wheels” Avila…after last inning I think we will need another run or two to win this one

  4. I really like Price’s “wow” over Dickerson’s HR calls. Good every time.

    1. It wasn’t a ‘wow’ type of home run. Don’t get me wrong, a home run is a home run, but I’d say it was Cabrera’s least impressive homer this year in that it wasn’t hit all that far nor was it one of his laser shots. However, what was impressed me that he was obviously sitting on an off-speed pitch and when he got it he didn’t miss it.

    2. I like Dickerson’s calls. In fact, lost in all the tributes to Ernie Harwell is the fact that Dan Dickerson, in his own way, is every bit the quality broadcaster Ernie was. He’s classy and while he is a bit of a homer, he’s overall fair to both teams.

      1. I don’t think there can ever be another Ernie. But, Dan Dickerson broadcasts a great game. He’s sincere about the Tigers and so is Jim Price. Dan can make a HR sound like firecrackers going off…same with a good catch, too.

        1. Agreed. I love the “HEEEE got ’em on STRIKES” call. I hope that one day my kids will have the same admiration for a guy like Dickerson that I had for Harwell (and still have for Eric Nadel).

  5. Tigers on pace to win 94-95 wins and have played the beasts of the East. This skeptic is starting to believe!!!

    1. Don’t get too excited, we still have to play the Royals about 30 more times.

    2. We need to address our infamous Mendoza Row, i.e. 6-9 in the lineup. This is the achilles heal of the team. Beef this up, even a little bit, and this skeptic will most definately begin to believe.

    3. After IL season they’ll be on pace to win 110. And then comes August/September.

      1. If you do have time to get back to them, I preferred when they were in the same thread as the previews. Kept the conversation going.

        As always, great job billfer.

      2. Congrats on the new job!! No need to apologize for having a life. I’m just glad it was life getting in the way and not burnout.
