Game 2010.031: Tigers at Indians

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. The Tigers will try and help you celebrate with a rain-truncated sweep of the Indians. That responsibility will fall in large part on the arm of Max Scherzer.

Scherzer is probably just happy to not be facing the Twins. In his 4 starts not against the Twins he has allowed 11 runs. In two turns against Minnesota he has surrendered 16 runs. He’s never face the Indians.

Mitch Talbot goes for the Indians. He sports a 2.88 ERA and I have no idea how. In 34.1 innings he has 15 walks and only 12 strikeouts and he’s given up 5 homers. And aside from 1 start against the White Sox where he induced 19 ground balls, he isn’t keeping the ball on the ground either. Lefties are only OPS’ing him at a .593 pace due in large part to a .163 BABIP.

  1. Amazing… the same line-up two days in a row…including BB & AA.

  2. It looks like maybe an early exit for Scherzer again today.

  3. Let’s put it this way, thankfully Scherzer isn’t pitching vs. the Yankees.

    1. We will see how our pitchers perform against the big boys next week.

  4. Don’t know what’s more surprising this year. Bad starters, great offensive production or the reliable bullpen.

  5. Maybe now it’s time to send Scherzer down and bring Gallaraga up.

  6. unfortunately Laird has done too good of a job tutoring Avila becasue not only does he catch well like laird but he hits like him also!

  7. how about Jackson …can he play this game or what..I know he will have some downs but so far his ups have been pretty darn good!

  8. A-Jax is looking like a sweet pick up. Certainly has the tools and looks fast. He has scored 25 runs already this year.

  9. Inge has 15 RBI which I guess is good ,but hasn’t he come up to bat with about 200 guys on base this year?????

  10. Two walks to start the inning…..lets see if they come back to bite us in the a$$……as they most usually do!

  11. how bout Laird hitting for Avila whats the point???

and Brandon that pitch wasn’t even in you usual check swing strike three zone !

  12. the Bobs outdid themselves that inning three whiffs ! wow must be those pink bats

  13. Same result as in the first game with Minnesota. The Tigers can hit, but make way to many errors including mis-judging the outfield walls. Our pitching today was the same battery that lost against Minnesota with same results. As a season ticket holder for years, I hope Leyland is able to figure this out. Also it won’t be to soon to get Guillen back.

  14. to Leyland’s credit he even tried pinch hitting one or two of the BOBs for other BOBS, but to no avail. This years BOBS are far worse that last years and Everett didn’t even play

  15. Now the REAL season begins…..having to play some REAL baseball teams!
