It’s an impressive collection. The most notable omission is Lou Whitaker, which is a little disappointing since he’s my favorite all time Tiger. I’d suspect this is a Lou decision which is unfortunate.

For those heading down to the game, the gates will open a half hour earlier than normal at 5 p.m. Fans have the opportunity to interact with members of the 1984 Tigers from 5:15-6:10 p.m. either during a question and answer session in the FS Detroit Brushfire Grill or during photo opportunities at Sections 125 and 144. Additionally, the first 10,000 fans to enter Comerica Park will receive a free 1984 Detroit Tigers replica road jersey, sponsored by Frito-Lay, and throughout the game hundreds of fans will have a chance to win 1984 autographed memorabilia.

  1. “I’m rich. What am I supposed to do, hide it?”
-Detroit Tiger Lou Whitaker, arriving in a stretch limo for a players’ union meeting during the 1994 baseball strike.

–that’s when Lou ripped my heart out and turned me away from baseball for five years.

    1. Yep, he was one of my favorite Tigers before he said that. That’s one of those things that is bad enough to think in your head, but to say it is just wrong.

  2. Hmm, maybe Rusty Kuntz could call in sick from his KC job and sneak in…

I suppose HoJo’s coaching duties may be preventing him from coming also?
