That is why Cleveland has the worst record in the league when the offense scores 3 or less. Detroit is 10-28 (.263), best in the Central. Cleveland is 2-30 (.063). Ouch.

I caught most of that Indians-WSox game. The Cleveland pitching staff is just horrendous. They were up 9-2 at one point and barely held on to win 10-8. They are definitely going to have a fire sale at the end of the month. Too bad they are in the same division as the Tigers, because I am sure they won't be dealing with any Central teams. Probably a chance for the Red Sox and Yankees to fatten up their rosters though.

Besides the catcher not throwing, the firstbaseman doesn't hold the runner on; lessens the gap between the fielders. The defense pretty much sets up as if there was nobody on.

Gotcha. At first I thought that, as my friend put it, "the fielder probably couldn't care...he plays for the Indians".

Yeah, it happens all the time late in games. When a team is up by more than one and there's a man on base, the catcher often does not attempt to throw because that runner is more or less meaningless.

Totally random: MLB Gamecast has this to say about the runner advancing to 2nd in the bottom of the 9th of the Tribe/Sox game,

"Getz to second on fielder's indifference"

I've never seen that before, wtf? Is that a real term?
