Was fun watching Jackson tonight. Although the updates of the Wings game were more thrilling than our offense, again.

Went to the game without wearing my lucky Cabrera shirt in protest until they won a game. They won. The shirt (and hopefully the man) will be back for my next game.

Average runs scored can be misleading, since your results will be quite different with, say, 3 games of 5 runs vs 2 games with 1 and 1 game with 13. Generally if you score 2 or less you are going to lose; if you score 6 or more you are going to win.

In the 6 or more category, the 3 teams are about even:
DET 17 (14-3) KC 16 (15-2) CHW 18 (16-2).

But in the 2 or less category the Tigers have a clear advantage:
DET 14 (2-12) KC 22 (4-18) CHW 21 (2-19).

So not only are you correct to bring up that we are averaging more runs, but also we are doing for better in the key category of fewer games held to 2 runs or fewer. (A lot of them are recent and fresh in the memory though...) Note: I compared to KC and CHW since I was responding to your comment; also MIN seems trickier because of differences in pre-Mauer and post-Mauer scoring.

Good two one drubbing! Lets get the series win boys!

And Bill w/e floats your boat. I'd say it is a one time slump buster, but if you like it, its your blog. It might be better to save it for when we really need it ;) (ie the playoffs)

Lets do it Alfred!

We'll still win nearly every game if we keep getting pitching performances like we have the last two nights from our starters.

Did I hear Leyland right just now? Larish to Toledo?

Edit: Yes, yes I did. It seemed like the obvious choice.

This is interesting.
Despite all the complaints, hitting wise we are still about league average in runs scored, batting average, OBP, and in Slugging. Even with our weak line-up we are scoring a ton more runs than the Royals or White Sox.

It was actually a fairly well-played game (except for some iffy hit-and-run DPs), which makes a 2-1 an enjoyable thing. If you prefer a lot of scoring though, there's always the Wings...

Bigtime. Verlander and Jackson atop the rotation are really, really outstanding. I love having a very good prospect of back to back dominant, deep starts.

He certainly took the mound in the 9th like a closer; blew about a dozen pitches by them, and game over! Maybe he could be our closer on his off days...

Galarraga too. The Tigers have scored 5 whole runs for him in his last 7 starts while he was out on the mound. Talk about no win situations.
