As much as I appreciate what Ordonez, Guillen, and Polanco have done for this team, I am excited for the young prospects to start taking over the roles of the veterans.

I don't know if it's just perceptions, or perceptions formed by different experiences. I haven't experienced those things with Guillen at all, and based on his public comments, filtered through the beats and all, he comes off as a pretty good team player. That's what a lot are basing their perceptions on.

In your case though, it sounds like you have different experiences, and experiences that weren't so positive.

It's interesting how perceptions differ. I've been to the last three fan fests and Guillen's ego has to rank up there among the biggest I've encountered among pro ball players, certainly the biggest on the Tigers. He acted like lowering himself to interact with fans was the bane of his existence. I didn't see him make eye contact with a single fan, say anything to them, or even acknowledge their existence. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt thinking perhaps he's not comfortable with his English skills and thus avoids interlocutions in English, but others have said to that 'nah, he's just a jerk'

Eh, I would whine a bit, too. Other players do much worse when asked to move. That doesn't really bother me.

I didn't get that vibe from him on a regular basis, but he did pout a bit when he was asked to move from SS.

Never thought Guillen had an attitude. He signed a few autographs for my girlfriend at the mall once, she said he was very nice. Shopping with his kids.

I never got that prima donna attitude from Guillen. Is that really what people think of him? I'm also pulling for Thames, though. More interesting to me tonight will be seeing how Willis bounces back from a rough first start. The guy still seems to be so gittery on the mound. It's like watching The Bird out there, with all the facial expressions and mumbling to himself and whatnot.

Guillen is a solid contributor when healthy, but I have to admit I don't miss his prima donna act or attitude. I like Thames though and hope he gets well soon.

I'm glad to see the player turnover. I don't even care to have Thames or Guillen back on the team. I think we're a better team without them. Hard to believe Guillen still has 2 more seasons left on his contract after this year.

Funny how none of the four DH options we thought we had when spring training started are currently available. (Sheffield, Guillen, Thames, Ordonez)

Wilkin is a guy I've been curious to see in the bigs ever since I saw him play in Erie last summer. He looks to have all the tools to be a high quality big leaguer- it'll be interesting to see if he's just a temporary fill in for Maggs or if he sticks for a while.

Actually might not be the worst night in the world to give Cabs a day off and Larish at 1st. 5 Lefties.

Exciting, it's nice to add some more athleticism to the lineup. Can't wait to see what he can do.

A lineup with Granderson, Anderson, Ramirez, and Thomas could be fun to watch. A few singles and a couple stolen bases from Ramirez, and the loss of Magglio's recent hot bat will be slightly less missed.

Always fun when a guy that has been talked about for awhile gets the call. Good luck to him.
