I haven't experienced those things with Guillen at all, and based on his public comments, filtered through the beats and all, he comes off as a pretty good team player. That's what a lot are basing their perceptions on. In your case though, it sounds like you have different experiences, and experiences that weren't so positive. I've been to the last three fan fests and Guillen's ego has to rank up there among the biggest I've encountered among pro ball players, certainly the biggest on the Tigers. He acted like lowering himself to interact with fans was the bane of his existence. I didn't see him make eye contact with a single fan, say anything to them, or even acknowledge their existence. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt thinking perhaps he's not comfortable with his English skills and thus avoids interlocutions in English, but others have said to that 'nah, he's just a jerk' It’s interesting how perceptions differ.
