Billy Nowlin homered twice as he came up a triple short of the cycle. Jordan Lennerton had 3 hits and Avasail Garcia went 4 for 5. Brandon Hamilton allowed 2 homers among 5 hits in 6 innings. He walked 1 and fanned 5.
Watching the afternoon game of FOX and Ibanez just hit his 17th HR. He’s doing Amazing well for Philly. I never thought much of him as a hitter before. Always thought that Carlos Guillen was just as good as him. Ibanez, who is 37 now, has had his best power hitting seasons after he was 34 years old. That has me thinking that maybe Guillen’s best power years are still ahead of him. Guillen is just 33 years old. Guillen was a solid .320 hitter from 2004-2006. He just needs to stay healthy somehow. Another thing that makes Ibanez so valuable is his durability. He’s only missed about a dozen games in the past 5 seasons.
This is the exception, not the norm. Rarely does a player improve when he reaches his late 30’s unless he has the help of modern medicine (not suggesting Ibanez is, though).
