What's gross about it. They upped the payroll significantly. Part of that is going to get passed on to the fans regardless of the record. The Tigers hold their prices in check for the most part for over 5 years and they make some small increases to some tickets for some games and it's a problem?

Yes, attendance was going to go down, but it's not because of the $2 extra per ticket on Friday nights. It's because the waves of scalpers who bought season tickets only to sell them won't be doing that again, the team didn't play well, and the economy is in the crapper.

And you don't have to buy 81 games to avoid the premium. It doesn't apply to partial season ticket holders either.

This is pretty gross

Upping your ticket prices significantly when you have a horrible season...

Quantity demanded was sure to go down either way

Even if the demand is highest on the weekends and Friday, it is still crappy for anyone who doesn't buy 81games

Drew Sharp called this the "Dontrelle Willis Tax" in the Freep today.

I don't think the hikes are all that significant. I'm particularly pleased that the Mezzanaine seats have not gone up. I think they are the best deal in the house, especially Sections 216-219.
