Game 160: Rays at Tigers

PREGAME: The Rays were most likely up until the wee hours last night celebrating their AL East championship. I say congrats to those mohawked players. But working in the Tigers favor is that they are probably hung over and don’t give a damn.

Dontrelle Willis takes the bump for Detroit and Matt Garza does the same for the Rays.

Watch and see if Gary Sheffield gets 500 homers and Ramon Santiago gets number 11.

  1. good job tigers you beat the best in al east. But of course the rays didnt really try. So,,im sorry tigers and tiger fans. Maybe next year., hEY your on the couch,,can ya root for the rays.!! We would root for ya, but you guys are dead last place.

  2. Eek! Inge is our every-day 3B and Carlos moves to left next year. When did this happen? Did I miss something? Yikes!

This may be more brutal than watching Griffey Jr. still try to place center field.

  3. Fun game! Milestones were reached all over the place: Cabrera now leads the AL in home runs, Dontrelle breached the elusive 9.50 ERA barrier, and Inge scaled the 50 RBI plateau with a clutch and noble sacrifice fly. Moreover, we finally had a victory over the Rays that I don’t have to feel guilty about (helping Boston just felt kind of dirty).

  4. I don’t know about the rest of you but I am praying that the Tigs have to play monday vs the W Sux and that we knock them out of the playoffs. That would be a good way to go out of this disappointing season.

raysfan, I for one will be rooting for the Rays in the playoffs.

  5. YES HAHA

INGE IS A 3rd baseman once more

Guillen to the OF? Me thinks DH (and cut Shef), however I will watch it play out

Lets go get a great FA defensive SS (check out TangoTiger fan defensive rankings)

    Now

I would be uber happy if the Tigers signed one guy for the offense/defense of this team

    His name?

    Rafael Furcal

very very good D at short which is much needed with our pitching

    can hit well
    is in his prime
logged over 500 ab for 6 years in a row (before this year – therefore should come at a cheaper price)

can bat switch (lefty and righty)

    is fast….is fast…. is fast

He would sig. upgrade our D and the left side of the infield would be super, he would fill a need for a burner besides Grandy, he would fill a need for a lead off hitter, he switch hits

Just for fun see how this sounds

    C- Ryan???
    1st-Cabrera
    2nd-Polonco
    3rd-Inge
    SS-Furcal
    RF-Ordonez
    CF-Granderson
    LF-Guillen
    DH-???

assuming he doesn’t cost much more than it would be to pick up Rentarilllllllas option he would be a great pickup and badly needed

Then they should go out and try to not get K-rod (his price tag will be wayy about his value) but Brian Fuentes

and find some other gems both in the minors (Perry? other college picks?)
and free agents (the next Bobby Seay, Tim Byrdak etc.)

Leave Porcello in the minors he’s right around my age for … sake, he should be moved up to AA and stay there for the entire next year no bringing up for 2 spot starts like they did for Verlander, dumb as heck

And go out and spend the chunk of their $$ on 1 or 2 big FA starters

Ie Sabathia or someone good who wants to come here

Still you have to rely on Verlander for next year

and at least 3 of the following

Galaraga, Bondo, Robertson, Miner, Willis, F.Garcia

and hope that either both Zumaya and Rodney or one is healthy and good for the whole year

  6. btw (as a followup) i was at the game (sad i know, no COPA until fan fest/opening day =( )and i enjoy maggs so much he is/has been a treat to watch

i love it when he goes to center and right makes my day

called both of those and also

thought shef was gunna line out to ss not 3rd oh well
    close enough

he isn’t a team guy just goin for the hr what a joker

nite my brains are kinda rattled muttled scrambled hopefully this incoherent English is at least semi-readable…
