Fun With Justin’s Stats – Beyond the Box Score – Justin Inaz has done a lot of work combining offense and defense to devise total player ratings. Sky has taken some of that work and summarized it at the team level. It rates the Tigers defense at -5 runs, which is slightly below average. Notice the fundamentally sound Twins at -41. Also check out the rank of Tigers position players. Maybe they don't need to blow things up and just get some better pitching.
Vince in MN Yup, they definitely won't be running away with it like the last couple of years.
StorminNorman$ ...for the record, and if DD would have checked with me - I'd have signed Melky Cabrera and hung on
The approx. 75-80 games against AL Central teams will be more difficult for DET this year...as opposed to the past
Vince in MN Don Kelly is available, and he can pitch relief too.
Vince in MN Factor in that Simon is a NL pitcher and the WHIP is a wash. We'll see how this pans out
Only Tiger Fan in Mississippi Poor Little Ricky...now a Red Sox...what's next, him rooming with Kevin Youkilis???
Perhaps the Tigers must have some rapidly emerging plans
...could be an upgrade (over Porcello) - '14 WHIP = Simon 1.207 vs Porcello 1.231
