I’m pretty sure MLB.com’s GameDay lies on pitches that are way out of the zone when they are called strikes. Seems like it, anyways.

You know, I’m curious about… well, not just Galarraga, but all the Tigers starters in regard to the pitching stats I posted earlier along this thread. We’ll start with Galarraga.

I was struck by his BAbip against RHB who pull the ball. And the difference between that and BAbip against RHB to the opposite field. The other Tigers RHP seem vulnerable indeed to RHB pull, and it would seem as though if a pitcher is getting raked, it tends to be by pull hitters from either side, though especially the opposite-handed side. What does this say about Galarraga? It must say something.

Sean – use mlb.com’s gameday instead of sportsline. MLB uses pitch f/x which has camera’s triangulated to measure where the ball crosses the front of the plate to within an inch.
