I would guess that most do - thats why they are pitchers, especially guys who rely on control

The guy Bondo has been compared the most to from what I've heard is Randy Johnson.

And I've never heard of Randy having this 1st inning problem...

I remember maybe a year or two ago (I forget if it was this site or the Detroit Tigers message boards) but, people were pointing out his ratio of fastballs to sliders were different in the first inning compared to innings 2 through the end of his start.

But does every other SP have the late movement on their pitches that Bondo does?

I am not saying that I agree with the argument, but I think that the article said that the umpires were fooled by the late movement and it takes about an inning for the ump to get used to his movement. Pitch f/x may be able tell if his pitches are more likely to be out of the strike zone in the first inning or if they are just being called that way. Does pitch fx have pitches by inning?

Very nice Billfer, the big thing I would point out is every other SP (on average) basically has the same chance at seeing the ump prior to that days start as Bondo does.
